Simon Cowell halted an audition on the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent, which aired tonight, before sharing his verdict alongside the other judges on the ITV show

An audition was halted by judge Simon Cowell on the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent. He didn’t seem impressed with a performance and shared his feedback after indicating for the contestant to stop their act on the stage.

Louise Hall, 29, was seen auditioning in front of the judging panel on tonight’s episode of the long-running ITV show. The teacher, from Pontypool, shared her hope of winning the contest before singing for the judges. She performed a rendition of Jacob Banks’ song Something Beautiful.

Less than a minute into the song though, the performance was halted by judge Simon, 65 – who signalled for Louise to stop singing. After she did, he asked: “Sorry, do you have a second song?” The contestant shared that she did.

Sharing his thoughts, Simon told her: “I think if you’re gonna do this and this obviously means a lot to you, I think you’ve really got to stop overthinking this for a second and just let go. That was kind of like what I call a polite audition.”

Louise said: “Okay, I’ll fight in this one for you.” The judge however replied: “For yourself, I think you should.” She went on to sing And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going, performed by Jennifer Hudson in the film version of musical Dreamgirls.

Following her performance of the song, Louise received a standing ovation from the audience. There was then praise from the judging panel who shared their feedback before announcing if she would go through to the next round.

Bruno Tonioli, 69, said: “Oh my God! The clarity in the projection of your voice is … I hardly ever heard. Only the top, top, top of the business [have] that clarity. It’s incredible.” Whilst Amanda Holden, 54, told the contestant in her feedback: “I loved the song. It was powerful. It was absolutely brilliant.”

Alesha Dixon, 46, said: “You just blew the roof off. It just poured out of you. It was so lovely to see and I could feel you fighting your way through that whole audition.” She concluded by telling the performer: “Well done, Louise.”

Simon commented: “I like you. That was adrenaline. Y’know, that was just you just like let go.” He however continued by saying on the panel: “You’ve very talented but I think … God, we have had better singers than you this year.”

The remark prompted booing from the audience as Alesha commented: “It was just song choice, isn’t it? I think it’s just song choice.” Speaking to Louise, she said: “We can help you with that.” Louise replied: “I’ll take any advice.”

When it came to voting, Bruno, Alesha and Amanda all voted for Louise to go through before fellow judge Simon shared his verdict. Despite some of his feedback in the audition, Simon agreed with them. He said: “I’m gonna say yes.”

Louise – who has auditioned for BGT before and once competed on the X Factor – spoke to the Mirror about her latest audition ahead of the episode airing. She said: “I don’t feel I have been given the right opportunity until now. It feel like it’s now or never. It’s my last chance.”

Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday from 7pm on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
