Coronation Street favourite Colson Smith could barely contain his excitement when Jack P Shepherd was announced as the winner on Celebrity Big Brother. Sharing a video of his reaction to his legion of followers, Colson, 26, who also appeared on the reality TV show last year, was seen running through his flat with his camera phone held up to his face shouting out: ” He’s won it, he’s won it.”

He accompanied the video with a caption that read: “YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS.” Within a matter of minutes, Colson, who plays the loveable Craig Tinker, was inundated with comments regarding his post from fans across the country.

One person wrote: “Love this, but just watched jack on Instagram and he says he can’t wait to see you to rub it in that he won but then that’s the banter between you two.”

Another person added: “That’s a true friend right there, so pleased for Jack, what a lovely guy.”

A third said: “I’m soooooo chuffed for him, what a lovely lad. Had him as winner from day 1 ( I’m feeling smug haha) I think this is most deserving a winner has ever been, no playing up to the cameras etc & just being himself.”

Meanwhile a fourth person chimed in: “It’s so lovely to see him win. We’ve all watched him grow up on tv from such a young age and he’s so down to earth and NORTHERN!!!!.”

Jack, who has played David Platt since a child on the ITV soap, was crowned winner on Friday night, beating his fellow housemate Danny Beard to the post.

When host AJ Odudu announced his name, Jack simply described his win as “crazy”, while seemingly trying to digest the fact he rose from being one of the most nominated housemates to the winner.

Moments before leaving the iconic house, Jack had a quick spray of his favourite perfume and decided on having one last look around the house before walking out to be greeted by hosts AJ and Will Best, not to mention his adoring fans.

Speaking about his win, he said: “I didn’t expect it. I thought I was a shoe-in for maybe fifth. I super analysed the whole show, thinking about maybe where I am in the pecking order.”

By his own admission, Jack is a “super fan” of the show.

At the beginning of the series, Jack was one of the first housemates up for eviction alongside Conservative MP Micheal Fabricant and axed Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke. But at the time, Michael was chosen by the public to leave the Big Brother house.

Speaking about the transition he made over the weeks, he added: “I guess I was liked by the end.”

However some spcial media users were baffled as to why the infamous Danny Beard was not crowned the winner as he was the favourite ahead of the final.

Taking to social media, one person said: “Erghhhh should have been Danny.”

But the reaction appeared balanced as another person penned: “David Platt winning #CBB was not on my bingo card for 2025! Gail would be proud.”
