Freddy Brazier, who is Jade Goody’s son, detailed his addiction struggles and the young man alleged how his gran – Jade’s mother Jackiey Budden – played a role
Jade Goody’s mum Jackiey Budden has insisted she is not responsible for grandson Freddy Brazier’s cannabis use.
Jackiey, 68, has spoken out in fury after Freddy had claimed his maternal grandmother got him “hooked” on drugs when he was just 12. He had said in a podcast he does hope to have a healthy relationship with Jackiey amid Jeff’s legal battle to stop him seeing the pensioner.
But Jackie, whose daughter Jade died in 2009 of cancer, has hit back at the 20-year-old man’s comments. She said: “I’ve read all these things he’s said about me and I just can’t believe he’d say them. It just isn’t true at all – I can’t believe it.
“Freddy was smoking as a kid with his mates long before he and I ever smoked together back out in Essex near Jeff’s home – he got into some bad crowds but it had nothing to do with me.”

Freddy bravely opened up about his addiction, revealing he was sectioned amid manic episodes. His TV presenter dad Jeff, 46, became concerned for Freddy after he was pictured smoking with Jackiey.
While Jackiey, originally from Southwark, south London, acknowledges she has smoked with her grandson, she disputes claims she got him “hooked” on cannabis, a Class B drug in the UK which is illegal for recreational use.
Speaking to the Mail Online in the wake of Freddy’s allegations, Jackiey added: “All I’ve ever tried to do is look out for him and give him somewhere safe to be whenever he wants to – and this has really upset me that he would do this.”
Jackiey’s daughter Jade, who died aged 27, was consumed with anxiety over how her sons Bobby and Freddy would turn out without her, it is understood. Both sons are attempting to navigate fledgling showbusiness careers but, while Bobby, 22, impressed during his three-year stint in EastEnders, concern has grown for Freddy.
A family friend told Mail Online: “Freddy is all over the place. He says one thing one day and the total opposite the next. One minute he wants to listen to his dad and turn his life around, by going off to rehab. A few hours later he’s changed his mind and says there are no issues and he’s furiously storming off again.”
But the TV personality received praise for his candid reflections in his podcast and honest posts on Instagram. In June, he told his social media fans he was going to Spain for rehab following the fallout with his father. Freddy wrote: “I’ve found a boxing club and a rehabilitation centre. Ive found someone I want to get to know and I’m happy. I got a good bunch of friends and I [want to] get out and enjoy myself.
“I want to be clean so I can live happily and have healthy relationships with people and be there for all of my family rather then feeling like I’m in the middle and have to choose a side.”
