James Corden has shared a cryptic social media post hours after he found himself in headlines as a report claimed Prince Harry once made a joke at his expense that left him furious

James Corden has shared a cryptic social media post that alludes to feeling unsupported after an explosive feud between him and Prince Harry was uncovered.

The 46-year-old Gavin and Stacey star enjoyed a successful Christmas season as his long-running BBC sitcom returned to screens for a final time – winning huge viewership ratings. But it appears 2025 has got off to a sour start as it has only now been revealed that he was once embroiled in a bitter fall-out with Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, 40.

A report over the weekend even claimed that David Beckham, 49, got caught up in the fallout and had to play peacemaker between the boys. The dramatic turn of events reportedly happened in 2011 – but it is possible the resurfaced argument could be playing on James’s mind.

On Sunday, fans were concerned to see the comedy star sharing a cryptic post on social media – just hours after he was dragged through negative headlines. And some have questioned if his post could be a reference to being “unsupported”.

In the aftermath of headlines about his royal argument, James took to Instagram to share an illustration with a quote. He wrote alongside the snap: “We all need this from Charlie Mackesy every once in a while” – along with a heart emoji.

The Charlie Mackesy quote stated: “Once in a while, out of the blue, your heart spins, and it can feel like you’re falling with nothing to hold onto. But you are not the storm, and it will pass.” The Instagram post attracted the attention of followers who questioned the meaning behind it.

One fan wrote in response: “Hope you’re ok dude” along with a red heart emoji. And another typed: “Sending love & hugs” – again with a red heart emoji.

A report in The Mail on Sunday over the weekend claimed that James had been left furious years ago when Prince Harry cracked a joke at his expense. The Prince and various friends had reportedly gathered for a party at a private members club in 2011, with James arriving hours later as he jetted in from the UK.

A joke was said to have been made that left James seething – although the Mail’s report did not specify what was said. Instead, a source told the outlet: “There was rapture when he arrived. He was a much-loved part of the group and there were hugs and giggles.

“The group was pretty large. There were some of Harry’s friends, some of James’ friends and some of David’s gang and they all intertwined. Then it all kicked off, James was furious. It quickly emerged that Harry had told a joke and James definitely did not find it funny.”

The report went on to claim that David Beckham had to intervene to calm down the scene and ensure everyone got back into a friendly spirit. The Mirror has contacted a representative of James Corden for comment.
