Janes Addiction and their band members have released statements regarding the remaining gigs on their US tour following the on-stage bust up between Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro

Jane’s Addiction have shocked fans with their decision to cancel their entire tour after lead singer Perry Farrell hit guitarist Dave Navarro.

The band had been performing in Boston when the pair came to blows mid-set. And it’s led them to announce the show can’t go on, much to the disappointment of their fans.

Guitarist Navarro broke the news in a statement. He said: “Due to a continuing pattern of behaviour and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour.

He continued: “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs. We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.”

The band also shared a statement on Twitter/X and revealed refunds for cancelled dates will be available. Videos from Friday night’s concert at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion showed the Lollapalooza founder Perry, 65, elbowing the guitarist while shouting at him and punching him, before being restrained by crew members.

Perry has called his actions “inexcusable” after having time to reflect. He wrote: “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarra, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behaviour, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

The band is best known for songs such as Strays and The Great Escape Artist, and have released four albums Nothing’s Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003), and The Great Escape Artist (2011). In 2013 the band were honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
