Professional dancer Janette Manrara had pals from Strictly Come Dancing emotional with a video that she shared this weekend. It was part of an update from the It Takes Two host after she was seen in tears herself just last week.
Janette, 41, was upset earlier this month over being away from her daughter Lyra, one, whilst in a touring production of the musical Chicago. Last week, she shared that she had said goodbye to her husband Aljaž Škorjanec, 35, and their daughter ahead of being away from them for two weeks.
Amid being separated whilst she performed on tour in Ireland, Janette had counted down the days to her reunion with Aljaž and Lyra. She wrote last week: “Missing my loves so much.” She has now reunited with her family and shared footage from the meeting on Instagram this afternoon.
The video showed Aljaž holding Lyra whilst stood at the front door of a property waiting for Janette to enter. The toddler was seen smiling and giggling as she saw her mother, with Aljaž teasing to her at one point: “Who is it?”
Moments after she saw Janette, Lyra requested a hug from her mother, saying “Come! Come! Come!” Janette was then seen hugging and kissing her daughter as they reunited in the hallway after being apart for two weeks.
Alongside the footage, Janette wrote in the caption that accompanied it: “My heart could not be more full. Back together w/ @aljazskorjanec and my little Lyra.” She also included a white heart emoji in the post on the platform.
The video was met with reaction from some of her pals from Strictly. Amy Dowden wrote: “Well this made my cry.” Gorka Márquez shared a tearful emoji and another of heart eyes. Whilst fellow pro Luba Mushtuk reacted with red heart emojis in the comments section earlier today.
A host of former contestants also reacted, including former winner Ore Oduba, who shared teary-eyed emojis. Ashley Roberts wrote “my heart” beside a red heart emoji and another that had tears in its eyes. Catherine Tyldesley said: “My heart. She will be so proud of her momma. You got this.”
Fans shared that they were also feeling emotional, with one person writing: “Beautiful – what a lovely welcome home. Had me in tears.” Another said: “This was so beautiful [it] made me cry.” A third reacted: “Oh this made my cry too.”
“So happy for you. What a special long awaited hug,” another fan wrote in the comments section. Sharing their thoughts, someone else said: “Oh this has made my day. Back where you belong.” One person wrote: “I’m balling. This is the sweetest. ‘Come, come, come’. Such a sweet moment.”
The reunion post comes after Janette was seen in tears in a video message to fans last week after parting from Aljaž and Lyra. She said at the time that the two weeks would be the longest she had been away from her daughter.
Janette – who had previously shared that she was feeling “scared” over the prospect of being away from Lyra amid the tour – said: “Just said my goodbyes to Aljaž and Lyra, and I won’t see them for two weeks now but sharing is good because it makes us all feel better. And I miss them a lot.”
She continued: “It’s the longest I’ll be away from Lyra so just starting to count down to the day I see her again. But in the mean time, I’m gonna stay strong and know that mommy is making her proud. And she is gonna have the best time with her cousins and her nan in Slovenia.” Janette concluded in the video last week: “Anyways, to all the parents that have to say goodbye to their kids for work or for whatever reason, it’s always tough but we’ve got this! We’ve got it.”
