Matthew Perry’s death is said to have left Matt LeBlanc struggling, with Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston said to be trying to help her friend in his time of need

Jennifer Aniston has reportedly stepped in to help her struggling co-star Matt LeBlanc following the death of Matthew Perry.

Matthew tragically died in October last year at the age of 54. The actor’s death is thought to have hit Matt hard, who played Joey Tribbiani in the iconic sitcom. And those close to the stars say Jennifer, who stars as Rachel Green, has kept in close contact with Matt to try to help him. It’s claimed Jen harbours some guilt over not being there enough for the Chandler Bing actor being his sad passing.

Courteney Cox, who played Monica Geller, is said to also be helping as the gang continue with their grief process.

According to Heat Magazine, a source said: “Watching Matt struggle has been extremely difficult for Jen. She’s been spending a lot of time with Matt at his home in Pacific Palisades – cooking for him, or just hanging out and watching movies, or sitting and chatting.”

The insider claims Jennifer has also stayed overnight on occasion and between herself and Courteney have made sure one of them is on hand to “keep an eye” .

Matt previously claimed his Friends co-stars – which also included David Schwimmer as Ross Geller and Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay – as “family”. The source went on to explain how Matthew’s death has really hit him hard, and claimed it has affected his dating life, eating habits and work schedule too.

They continued: “She’s [Jennifer] taken it upon herself to connect Matt with some therapists and get her trainer to his house – she’s insisted that he need to start working out and do everything he can to boost his mental health.”

The source added Jen is determined to help her pal get out of a dark place and help him build his mental and physical health back up.

The comments come as a doctor who had been charged in connection with Matthew’s death pleaded guilty in a federal court after reaching a deal with prosecutors. His lawyer reiterated that he feels “remorse” over the actor’s death.

Dr. Mark Chavez, 54, a doctor from San Diego, formally admitted conspiring to distribute the surgical anaesthetic ketamine during a change-of-plea hearing earlier in the month. His plea makes him the third person to accept charges following Matthew’s death.

In comments made to reporters outside federal court in Los Angeles following the hearing, Mr Binninger said that Chavez had shown remorse for his actions. He said: “[Chavez has] accepted responsibility, plead guilty, admitted a lot of facts on record, he’s cooperating with the government, he has already started the process of surrendering his medical licence. He is taking this incredibly seriously.”

Matthew was found dead, aged 54, at his home in California. His death was attributed to “the acute effects of ketamine”. It’s said the star had been seeking treatment for depression and anxiety when he became addicted to intravenous ketamine. In August, it was revealed that five people had been charged in connection with his death.
