Jennifer Lopez is known to take her nutrition seriously, enjoying a range of healthy meals including a tasty breakfast recipe

It’s no secret that Jennifer Lopez takes her health very seriously. When she’s not singing, dancing or acting, the superstar is often found at the gym — and she enjoys nutritious meals to help fuel her demanding workout regime.

Celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson previously told PEOPLE that the musician’s diet is focused on fresh food. “It’s all organic and it’s all very well thought out, with the balance of very high quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food,” the expert shared.

Lopez also enjoys lots of popular breakfast staples, such as avocado toast, according to reports. Just last year, a source commenting on Lopez and Ben Affleck’s morning routine told In Touch ‘avocado toast, granola and berries’ is one of the star’s go-to meals.

In good news for avocado fans, the beloved brekkie is packed with fibre and healthy fats that could help maintain healthy cholesterol and reduce your risk of coronary heart disease. In fact, research from the Journal of the American Heart Association found that eating one avocado per week could cut your risk of developing coronary heart disease by 21 per cent.

The British Heart Foundation points out, “There’s lots of evidence that it’s more important to think about your whole diet rather than focusing on one particular food. To keep your heart healthy, you should focus on eating plenty of vegetables, fruit, fish, pulses and wholegrains, and cutting down on foods high in salt, sugar and saturated fat like cake, biscuits and sweets.”

That said, Victoria Taylor, Senior Dietitian at the British Heart Foundation, noted: “Swapping foods with saturated fat, like cheese, butter or fatty meats, for unsaturated fats, like avocado, oily fish, nuts, seeds, olive oil or rapeseed oil, can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.”

The British Heart Foundation warns that granola also contains fibre, but it’s important to watch out for added sugars and saturated fat. Meanwhile, berries contain fibre, antioxidants, and vitamins, with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries all among the healthiest choices.
