Hollywood star Johnny Depp surprised diners in the Canary Islands when he joined them to sample some local delicacies. Depp is in Tenerife filming his new star-studded film Day Drinker alongside the movies’ female lead Penelope Cruz.
The film is being directed by Marc Webb and is described by IMDB as the story of an enigmatic stranger forming an unlikely bond with a grieving bartender who lost her lover, with their lives intertwining in unexpected ways. The star excited the local residents when he showed up unexpectedly at one of the islands’ most impressive eateries – Duke Restaurant.
The restaurant initially specialised in Japanese cuisine but expanded to include Mediterranean flavours in its menu.
The restaurant’s manager, Lolo Crusellas, posted about his team’s experience meeting the celebrity on social media, saying: “With the great pirate Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp, excellent actor and good person,” referencing the actor’s turn as the rogue adventurer in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise.
