With the return to school on the horizon, William and Kate are no doubt getting their three children kitted out for a new year. But in years past, Kate has made one big error during the back to school shop that every parent can relate to
The back to school countdown is officially on, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all set to return to Lambrook School in a matter of days.
Like many parents around the country, William and Kate are no doubt kitting out their three young children with their much needed school supplies and updated uniforms to tackle the school year with a fresh start.
However, when doing the back to school refresh shop in years past to make sure their kids are stocked with the correct uniforms and shoes, it seems Kate made one major faux pas that every parent can relate to. It comes after Meghan Markle sends telling ‘message’ to royals with bold move in Netflix show.

One of the most dreaded shopping trips at this time of year for parents and children alike is going to buy new shoes, which Kate learned several years ago when she went school shoe shopping with Prince George and Princess Charlotte in tow.
In 2018, the Princess of Wales was spotted with her two eldest children in tow shopping at the Peter Jones department store in London, with a source telling Hello! that Kate forgot to take socks for George and Charlotte to wear when they were trying on their new shoes.
The young royals were wearing their summer sandals when they went to pick out their new shoes, so like many mums before her, Kate had to borrow socks from the store.
This will be the last year that George, Charlotte and Louis will all be attending the same school, as in 2026, 12-year-old George will head off to start his secondary school education.
It is not yet known which school George is set to attend next year, with both Eton and Marlborough College being mooted as potential options. But as William and Kate grapple with their major decision for their eldest child’s education, the new school year might bring up mixed feelings for them all, as Jennie Bond told the Mirror.
The former BBC royal correspondent exclusively explained: “William and Catherine’s baby boy George is rapidly turning into a young man – and this last year at Lambrook School with his siblings will be another milestone in his life.
“I’m sure that he’ll feel nervous about the big change ahead, but hopefully some of his school friends will be making the move with him, wherever he is headed.”
“George has become used to his parents being deeply involved in his school life, as often as possible, it’s mum or dad who does the school run, and I’m sure they’re fully invested in every aspect of his education. So that’s going to be another big change ahead.
“There’s no doubt they will all cherish this final year of the three children being together – if, indeed, it does turn out that they end up at different schools.”
