Strictly Come Dancing pro Katya Jones shared a photo of herself backstage on the tour in Liverpool following the news that Wynne Evans would be taking ‘some time out’ of it

Professional dancer Katya Jones appears to have a subtle tribute to Wynne Evans backstage on tour.

Wynne, 53, had been working alongside dance partner Katya, 35, on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour but it was announced earlier this week that he would be taking “some time out”. His departure from the tour comes after he made a demeaning remark to its host Janette Manrara recently, for which he later issued an apology.

Katya – who had been partnered with him for the BBC show last year, prior to the tour – has already teased that she “missed” Wynne after performing without him in Liverpool on Tuesday night. She now appears to have revealed that she has a memento of their friendship in her dressing room at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool.

She took to Instagram on Wednesday evening ahead of the cast’s final show at the arena to share a photo of herself backstage. Katya was seen posing for a selfie in a dressing room. A polaroid-like photo, which appeared to be of Wynne in a pink jumper, was visible at the side of her mirror. Alongside a waving emoji close to the keepsake, she wrote: “Hello.”

The tour is continuing without Wynne following his recent departure. It comes after it was previously revealed that he had referenced a sexual act whilst at a photocall with his co-stars during the launch in Birmingham.

As previously reported, the comment came after host Janette walked over to the group. Wynne sang out “Go Compare” before adding: “Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick].” He then appeared to use the term “spit roast,” in reference to a lewd sexual act, in the video published by Daily Mail.

Wynne later told the Mirror: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise.” Whilst a spokesperson for the tour and BBC Studios said: “We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.”

More recently, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Wynne said: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.”

He added: “I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”

His former dance partner Katya reacted to the news on her own account. Sharing his statement with her followers, she wrote in her caption over it: “Let’s show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.”
