Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe was surprisingly left out of the recent France squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures against Israel and Italy and might never return given his stance

Kylian Mbappe is set to turn his back on the France national team, reports in the country have claimed.

The Real Madrid star was surprisingly left out of Didier Deschamps’ latest squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures against Israel and Italy. Explaining the decision, he claimed that it was only for the upcoming fixtures.

Speaking in a press conference, Deschamps said: “I’ve had discussions with him, it is a decision that I took for this block of matches only. Kylian wanted to come.”

And it now appears that the decision could bring Mbappe’s international career to a premature end. According to reports in France, the ex-Paris Saint-Germain now no longer wants to represent his nation in the current situation.

It is suggested that Mbappe will not represent France under Deschamps until something changes. The relationship between the striker and his international manager is described as ‘fractious’.

Mbappe, 25, has already enjoyed a successful career with Les Bleus. After making his debut in 2017, he has gone on to earn 86 caps and score 48 goals – putting him third in the nation’s all-time top scorers list.

Mbappe won the World Cup with his country in 2018 and then netted a hat-trick in the 2022 final – only for France to lose out to Argentina. Claims about the forward’s international future come at the same time that he is enduring a difficult spell on the club front.

While Mbappe has scored eight goals in 15 appearances for Real Madrid this season, it has not all been plain sailing. It has been claimed that he is frustrated with Carlo Ancelotti for continuing to play him as a central striker.

Compatriot Thierry Henry has also taken aim at Mbappe for contributing to Jude Bellingham’s stuttering form. The Arsenal icon said: “It’s almost always Bellingham that tries to make the runs, makes the team play.

“He is still the one who tries to break the lines. Who is running and trying to get to the finish line? It’s Bellingham that is doing Mbappe’s job. This can happen from time to time, but not all the time.

“Do you think Bellingham likes to do these runs to stretch the team? He does it because he has the desire and the will to do it. You have to give him time, but he must learn to play as a 9 and have the desire and the will to do so. I think the team is frustrated with him, which I can understand.”
