First lady Melania Trump doesn’t share insight into her daily beauty regime, but we do know she uses this one collagen-boosting skincare ingredient – and you can find it in a £36 wrinkle-busting cream
Appearing as the vision of sophistication in a chic, custom navy coat and matching hat, the new first lady made sure she put on a demure and fashionable display as her husband was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
And while Melania Trump may not have quite captured the hearts of the public, especially over in the UK, quite like the former first lady Michelle Obama did, if we were ever given the chance to sit down with Melania, we already know the first thing we’d ask her: How does her skin look so very youthful?
At 54 years old, Melania could easily be mistaken for a woman in her forties. But unfortunately for those of us wanting to know her secrets, the first lady has never opened up about the exact beauty products she uses. However, thanks to a 2016 interview with GQ, we do know she prefers the natural route.
She said at the time: “A lot of people say I am using all the procedures for my face. didn’t do anything. I live a healthy life, I take care of my skin and my body. I’m against Botox, I’m against injections; I think it’s damaging your face, damaging your nerves. It’s all me. I will age gracefully, as my mom does.”
So, if Melania doesn’t turn to injectables and stays tight-lipped about her favourite brands and products, how do we know about a specific powerhouse ingredient she does use to turn back the clock? You probably won’t remember this as it wasn’t available to shop in the UK, but Melania launched her own skincare range back in 2013, Melania Caviar Complexe C6. The range was said to have been discontinued due to limited distribution, but we imagine Melania snuck some samples to keep using herself

The key ingredient of the five products was an anti-ageing caviar complex that can be found, in similar forms, within pricey skin creams like La Prairie and Elizabeth Grant. But, if you have first lady tastes but not the budget, there is one cream you can find that’s sold in the UK and features a caviar formula: Mario Badescu’s Skin Care Caviar Day Cream £36.26 on Amazon. You can shop it from the brand’s website for £17 but you’ll have to pay hefty delivery fees, making the Amazon option very tempting.
So, what does a caviar complex do for the skin? It contains essential fatty acids to help restore the skin’s natural barrier, reducing moisture loss and improving hydration. It’s also packed with amino acids like glycine, lysine and arginine, which are building blocks for collagen and elastin – essential for skin firmness and elasticity.
Mario Badescu’s cream has glowing reviews, backing up Melania’s apparent love for the star skincare ingredient. One reviewer who titles her feedback ‘best cream ever for hydration’ pens: “I am 65 with sensitive, dry skin. The skin on my nose flakes off and drives me nuts! Caviar Night Cream is the first product that WORKS to greatly reduce my nose flakes, hydrate w/o causing breakouts (which I’m also prone to), and leaves my skin dewy the next day.”
A second writes: “Obsessed! The perfect perfect day cream. My skin has never looked better. My advice if you want to look ten years younger is to buy this now!”
Another cream you can find a caviar complex in is Aldi’s famous Lacura Caviar Day and Night Creams (both have RRPs of £6.99). Both are unfortunately nearly permanently sold out on Aldi’s website, but if you’re quick and you’re willing to pay a little more for the duo, Amazon is currently selling them for £21.99 for the two while stock lasts.
Be right back, we’re off to coat ourselves in it.
