The trainer of Lewis Hamilton’s poorly dog, Roscoe, has shared an update after the Formula 1 legend revealed that his 12-year-old pooch was in a coma. Roscoe, the bulldog whom seven-time world champion Hamilton adopted in 2013, was recently admitted to hospital with pneumonia.

Hamilton, 40, explained that Roscoe was sedated while doctors did checks and during that process, his heart stopped. The Ferrari driver pulled out of an F1 tyre test with Pirelli to be by his dog’s side.

The beloved pet has 1.3million followers on Instagram and he’s described in his profile as ‘a vegan bulldog that loves to travel and play ball’. Roscoe is often seen alongside at F1 races and has become friends with Leo, the dog owned by Hamilton’s team-mate at Ferrari, Charles Leclerc.

He’s trained by experienced animal trainer Kirstin McMillan. The American posted on Instagram after fans sent messages of support and quizzed her for updates on Rosoe’s health.

“The overwhelming outpouring of love & energy for Roscoe is astonishing,” McMillan began. “You’ll forgive me for consciously choosing to let the DM’s overflow at the moment. I’m keeping my attention & intention on a healthy & healed Roscoe.

“Social can be such a powerful siphon of energy and at moment, this energy feels like a hugely important resource as I walk thru this with Dads for the most precious broccoli chomping boy.

“Problems arise in life. This one was unexpected & felt sudden. It’s taken me a moment to get my bearings. I know you guys have gone thru really difficult plot twists in your lives as well bc you’ve shared with me. Please know I’m not ignoring you. I’m holding focus.

“You can’t solve the problem at the level of the problem. I am that friend who has a conversation going with God in my heart literally all day long. During a crisis, that conversation continues but I quiet out everything else possible, just so I can hear that small sacred voice inside better.

“You guys already know Roscoe is getting a lot of care & everything needs to go right You do all the right things & then turn it over to the Most High. I know many of you are praying for Roscoe. I’m praying for Roscoe too.

“My uncle taught me something really beautiful about prayer a long time ago. He told me when I pray, don’t pray like a beggar- all desperate & pleading. He said: when we pray, we pray from victory. This one thing changed how I pray more than anything else.

“I have no control over outcome, but have fervently done my part so that this dogs body has been kept strong & resilient. In crisis, he is prepared. That’s bc as you guys know Lewis has always made his health priority. Pray that the hands & hearts of the doctors are guided, resourced & pure. This dog has a consistent history of resilience.

“Strong bodies know how to heal once obstacles are removed. I’m keeping my vibe high (it’s a repetitive process at moment) be higher hearts bring the medicine we need right now. Hold space from Victory.”

Hamilton broke the news about Roscoe earlier this week. Alongside pictures of himself by Roscoe’s bedside, he posted: “They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he’s in a coma.

“We don’t know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him up. I’m by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support.”
