Liverpool landed an incredible win in Paris with Alisson the star man as the Brazilian No 1 produced, what he claimed, was the best performance of his life to deny PSG

Alisson admitted his performance against PSG was maybe the best of his life as Liverpool produced a stunning away victory.

The Reds were under huge pressure as the French side fired in 27 efforts on Alisson’s goal, but the Brazilian continued to deny the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele, before Harvey Elliott scored an 88th minute winner.

Alisson was continuously called upon as the Ligue 1 outfit dominated for long periods. Kvaratskhelia was the only man to breach Alisson’s goal, only for VAR to deny him, and after that the Liverpool No 1 was unstoppable.

For years the Brazilian has been a crucial figure for the Reds and after keeping another clean sheet in Europe Alisson admitted he’d just come up with the best display of his life.

He was asked TNT Sports if it was his best performance of the season, but Alisson went further and replied: “Probably of my life I think, so far. The manager told us how hard it would be to play PSG and that we had to be ready to suffer.

“We saw the clips and we knew what was coming, so much quality on their side, but we work hard. Yes we gave away so many chances, but the biggest part of the chase is having someone to make the player having the chance think, which makes my job easier.”

Elliott came off the bench late on, coming on for Mohamed Salah, and the former Fulham man needed less than 60 seconds before he was able to fire home the game’s only goal, finishing smartly past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The majority of the Liverpool players quickly rushed to Alisson after the full-time whistle and their appreciation was clear. Elliott said: “Thanks to this man and the defence, it was a very solid game defensively. Then it is down to me to put the opportunity away and thankfully it went in.

The match winner added on Alisson: “I got no words to be honest, this guy he’s unbelievable. The best in the world, he shows in every game. Keeps us in so many games and tonight its my opportunity to repay this man. Without him, I don’t know where we’d be.”

Liverpool only had two efforts on goal and scored with the only effort that was on target. They will now be firm favourites to make the last eight ahead of the second-leg at Anfield.
