Liverpool are Premier League champions once again after victory over Tottenham on Sunday. Arne Slot became just the fifth manager to earn the title in their debut season in the division and the Reds can still set an impressive march.

The Dutch coach joined Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte, and Manuel Pellegrini, and can still record a points tally higher than all but Mourinho with success in the club’s four remaining matches. Games against Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Crystal Palace remain, with the trophy not expected to be lifted until the final day.

The likes of Federico Chiesa will still be fighting to earn a Premier League medal, but Liverpool will be able to turn their attention to the summer in addition to earning more praise this season. Slot has now had a season to assess his squad and its needs, in addition to establish which players he no longer wants.

There remains no confirmation over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, while the Reds will soon be presented with a new crop of stars entering the final 12 months of their contracts.

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest news and rumours surrounding the champions.

Konate’s message

Ibrahima Konate was left in disbelief by the reception Liverpool earned from their supporters as they arrived at Anfield on Sunday. The French defender described how much the moment impact Arne Slot’s squad ahead of winning the title.

Konate told the French outlet Canal+: “It was unbelievable, honestly. As soon as we got to the stadium, I knew we would win. It was special. What we felt was unprecedented. The players in the team bus were not even in their usual spots. We were all on our toes, watching the fans. I have no words to describe it.”

Konate did not mince his words over the manner of Liverpool’s victory and domination over the division in recent months. “Honestly, it’s exceptional,” he added.

“Although there are a couple of games remaining, we steamrolled the league, and it’s done, eh?”

Darwin Nunez transfer

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has already been told he can leave the club this summer according to reports in Spain. The Uruguay forward has struggled to break into Liverpool’s starting lineup this season and scored seven goals in 43 appearances.

Spanish newspaper AS claim a Liverpool exit is close to certain and that the player and his entourage hav been told his time with the club is nearing its end. Agent Jorge Mendes is said to be searching for a new side for the striker.

Atletico Madrid are among those said to be interested, but a fee of £34m-£38million could prove too steep for the La Liga giants.

Salah blow

Mohamed Salah has enjoyed a superb season guiding Liverpool to Premier League glory and was a standout star all across Europe. The Egyptian has scored 33 goals and provided 23 assists in an unbelievable season and earned a new two-year deal with the Reds.

Salah’s 28 goals had seen him leading the race for the European Golden Shoe award. However, despite scoring against Spurs, he saw his mark surpassed over the weekend.

Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres netted four goals against Boavista to take his tally to 38 goals in his 33 league matches. That translates to 57 points, compared to Salah’s 56, with a coefficient seeing goals scored in the Premier League considered more valuable than those scored in the Primeira Liga.
