Liverpool’s summer transfer splurge has not yet reached its conclusion but their pursuit of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak shows no sign of reaching a conclusion

Liverpool’s transfer business so far this summer has been so impressive that even Rio Ferdinand has admitted he is blown away.

But with Arne Slot ’s squad already boosted by more than £250m worth of new talent, there remains an expectation that their business will continue with the addition of Alexander Isak from Newcastle in a transfer that would exceed £100m.

A deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is not being ruled out either ahead of a campaign of high expectations at Anfield.

Here is the latest transfer news with just over a fortnight to go before the new Premier League campaign gets underway.

Isak saga

Alexander Isak has been told by Simon Jordan to “buckle up” because Newcastle may well dig their heels in and tell the Swede that he’s not going anywhere.

The striker recently informed the Magpies that he wants to explore his options away from St James’ Park with Liverpool now his most likely destination.

Isak has not joined Newcastle on their pre-season tour with fitness cited as the issue and the ex- Crystal Palace owner Jordan has challenged Liverpool to get a move on with their recruitment and make a bid – while also insisting that the Magpies are well within their rights to protect their asset and their club.

Wright decision

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Salford City over a move for Will Wright. The Reds are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of the 17-year-old forward as they finalise talks with the player’s representatives to get the transfer over the line.

The Gunners agreed a deal with Salford earlier in the summer but now look to see their move hijacked. Arsenal were said to have first submitted a bid worth £250,000 plus add-ons for Wright, a figure greater than Liverpool’s reported first offer of £100,000 plus add-ons .

Target goes elsewhere

Saudi outfit NEOM are close to completing a deal for highly-rated French defender Nathan Zeze with the 20-year-old set to choose the Middle East over a switch to the Premier League .

Liverpool had been keen on Zeze whilst Aston Villa , Everton and Bournemouth also had an interest in the defender, who has drawn comparisons with William Saliba. Zeze came through the ranks at Nantes and has continued to impress potential suitors.

But now he is set to head to Saudi instead of a big European move.
