Arne Slot has masterminded a near perfect first half of the season, but it remains to be seen if Liverpool will act in the transfer market to bolster the Dutchman’s squad

Liverpool are riding high in the Premier League and Europe, so it remains to be seen if much business will be done at Anfield this January.

The main priority for Arne Slot and co right now would appear to be resolving the futures of three of their top stars. Speculation over Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk is still rife and all three could leave on free transfers next summer.

In terms of reinforcements, the Reds have been urged to sign a new left-back by Jamie Carragher. But Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez – who Carragher has recommended – looks set to stay put this month.

As we approach the halfway stage of the transfer window, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news and gossip from Anfield…

Slot gets transfer boost

Nurnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas could be on his way to Anfield in the summer after the club’s Sporting director, Olaf Rebbe, confirmed they would consider selling him on for a quick profit.

The 18-year-old is currently on loan with Nurnberg from PAOK, but with the German outfit are effectively in control of his destiny given they hold an option to buy the youngster permanently.

And with Liverpool sniffing around, Rebbe said of Tzimas: “We won’t give up any top performers in the winter, but with a view to the summer, we are of course already looking at a few options.”

Zubimendi makes U-turn

Martin Zubimendi IS set to seal a move to the Premier League – just months after snubbing the chance to join Arne Slot’s side.

The 25-year-old Real Sociedad star was the subject of transfer from the Reds back in the summer. However, he decided to stay put in Spain following a late change of heart.

Arsenal have also been courting Zubimendi for the last 12 months. And as revealed by The Mail, they are now in advanced talks over a deal which would see the Euro 2024 winner head to The Emirates.

Duo could head out

Liverpool are willing to listen to loan proposals for Jayden Danns and James McConnell, it has been claimed.

The Athletic report that Danns and McConnell, both of whom featured in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley, have generated interest from EFL clubs who are looking to bolster their squads.

And they could get the green light to head out on temporary deals depending on what offers come Liverpool’s way in the coming weeks.
