While Arne Slot and Liverpool can look forward to lifting the Premier League trophy in their season finale next weekend, the hard work to prepare for the 2025-26 campaign has already begun behind the scenes.

Slot is expected to be rewarded for winning the title in his maiden season with significant backing in the transfer market after working predominantly with the squad he inherited last summer. At the top of the Reds’ agenda is acquiring more attacking options after tying Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk down to new deals.

Jeremie Frimpong is the red-hot favourite to replace the Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back while other areas of the squad are also due to be looked at.

Frimpong clause to be triggered

Liverpool are expected to trigger the £30million release clause in Jeremie Frimpong’s contract imminently to make the former Manchester City star their first summer signing.

That’s according to a new report from The Times, who reveal that an approach will be made after Bayer Leverkusen conclude their Bundesliga campaign with a trip to Mainz at the weekend. Negotiations with Frimpong’s camp have already taken place and the versatile Dutchman is keen on a switch to Anfield.

Federico Chiesa is in talks with Napoli over a potential loan move with negotiations at an advanced stage, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian outlet claims that Chiesa, 27, is keen on a return to Italy after a hugely frustrating 12 months on Merseyside.

The report outlines that the two sides are currently locked in a disagreement over the structure of the deal, with Liverpool pushing for an obligation so the Serie A outfit must sign Chiesa permanently while Napoli would prefer an option.

Dean Huijsen is poised to snub his array of Premier League suitors in order to sign for Real Madrid after the Spanish giants officially approached Bournemouth for their talented centre-half.

Huijsen, 20, has admirers at Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea amongst others after a stellar maiden season in the Premier League. But BBC Sport have confirmed that Real Madrid have agreed to pay the defender’s £50m release clause with a deal now close to being agreed.

Los Blancos want the youngster to feature for them in the Club World Cup next month alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, though they have yet to agree terms with Liverpool for the right-back’s early release.
