Liverpool are set to enter a second transfer window under Arne Slot and the Reds appear to be considering a move for some attacking players while attempting to resolve expiring contracts

In little over a week, Arne Slot will be provided a second opportunity to his mark on Liverpool’s squad.

The Reds already sit top of the Premier League and Champions League, and are through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. But after a modest summer of business, the January transfer window soon offer Slot the chance to sign players.

Federico Chiesa arrived earlier this year, while Giorgi Mamardashvili signed before remaining at Valencia on loan and Martin Zubimendi opten to stay at Real Sociedad rather than move to Anfield. As a result, Slot has thrived using players who were already at the club when he was appointed.

With key figures out of contract at the end of the season and able to discuss terms with other clubs next month, there is still work to be done. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer stories surrounding Liverpool.

No Van Dijk deadline

Virgil van Dijk will be permitted to speak to other clubs in January, when he enters the final six months of his contract, but insists there is no deadline to agree a new deal. Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are identical situations as Liverpool seek to tie down three key stars.

Van Dijk remains calm about his situation and the Dutchman claims his attention is simply on maintaining his side’s place atop the Premier League. “There is no deadline at all,” Van Dijk said. “I’ll see what the future holds. I focus fully on Leicester.”

Ricardo Pepi offer confirmed

A Premier League club has made an a £16.6million bid for PSV star Ricardo Pepi, according to Goal. Liverpool are said to be a club interested in the American forward.

Pepi has notched 10 league goals this term in just 636 minutes of action. The 21-year-old is expected to draw interest from around Europe next month with PSV holding out for a significant offer.

The former Augsburg ace will require a larger fee than what has been bid so far to persuade PSV to do business. The US international has a contract until 2028.

Cherki latest

Liverpool are interested in Lyon ace Rayan Cherki but have yet to engage in negotiations with player or club. Fabrizio Romano claims that the Reds want to see greater consistency before committing to investmen in the 21-year-old.

Lyon’s financial issues have meant Cherki’s future have always been a topic of discussion for the Ligue 1 side but it has already been established rivals Paris Saint-Germain will not make a move for the player in January. Cherki has scored five goals and provided seven assists in his 18 appearances this term, with six of those contributions coming in six Europa League outings.
