Love Island All Stars will be handed a set of guidelines for the day, with advice to stay in the shade and even stay inside the villa during the hottest hours of the day
The Love Island All Stars will have to ditch their bikinis and stay indoors as the villa is hit by a heatwave.
The weather forecast predicts a UV level of 13, just one point below Cape Town’s highest ever recorded level. This means that the reality stars will have to take extreme precautions to protect themselves from the blistering South African sun.
Producers will advise them to seek shade in the garden and spend time inside the villa between 11am and 3pm. They will also be encouraged to cover up their skin.
Official advice for UV levels above 11 – categorised as “Extreme” – warns: “Take full precaution. Unprotected skin will be damaged and can burn in minutes. Avoid the sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., cover up, and wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Don’t forget that white sand and other bright surfaces reflect UV and increase UV exposure.”
The Love Island All Stars’ villa is a sun trap, surrounded by reflective white walls. A show insider revealed: “Crew and Islanders are prepped for all weather eventualities. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are all available and regularly seen on screen and there are areas in the shade for them to take cover, as well as of course inside the villa. Plus they can cover up and make use of the eBay wardrobe.”
If the Islanders decide to stay outdoors, they’ll have to head to the kitchen, mini fire pit or day bed – and can choose the new Secret Garden as long as they don’t use it with their partner. Otherwise, they’ll need to chill inside or on the terrace.
This news arrives just hours before Love Island All Stars begins, with 12 familiar faces re-entering the villa. This includes former couple Marcel Somerville and Gabby Allen, who quickly find themselves in an awkward confrontation over their tumultuous past.
Maya Jama will be there to greet the cast to their new communal home along with the shocking revelation that the public will dictate their initial pairings.
Following the show’s success, it is back again this year – alongside the new series later this summer – and it looks like there could be trouble ahead, with some big names announced already – and maybe more bombshells to come.
The Islanders already announced are some of the most iconic to grace the famous villa and they’ll no doubt be bringing even more drama when they step foot in their South African home this New Year. The second series of the spin-off show, based in South Africa, starts tonight, at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
