As autumn begins to make its presence felt many people will be looking for one last hit of sunshine before winter, and this Mediterranean hotspot is the perfect place, according to new figures

A new champion destination has been crowned, with experts recommending a popular part of the Turkish coast as the best place for an affordable last-minute beach holiday.

As autumn begins to make its presence felt many people will be looking for one last hit of sunshine before winter, and Mediterranean holiday hotspot Antalya is the perfect place, according to new analysis from Travel Supermarket. The comparison site compiled a list of “Best Bargain Beach Breaks” based on things like the average price of a seven-night stay and the daily cost of things like sun loungers and a beer from a beach bar.

And it was Antalya in Turkey which took the top spot, with cheap prices, warm September weather and beautiful scenery making it an ideal beach holiday destination, the Sun reported. Travel Supermarket said it had found deals where holidaymakers could get a seven-night room-only package, with sun loungers and a cold beer each day thrown in – all for £422.

Antalya enjoys warm weather year-round with September and October great months to visit with temperatures remaining as high as 30C in September and the sea temperature still in the high 20C range, for those that relish a warm dip in the med. Hot on the heels of Antalya on the Travel Supermarket list came another Turkish tourist gem, Dalaman. This offered similar great value with the same deal as above coming in at £426, according the list.

Further west along Turkey’s coast than Anatalya, Dalaman is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich cultural heritage. Third on the list came Greece and a £50 jump in price from the holiday deals to be found in Turkey – but still a reasonable £475 per person, for its best-value offerings.

Fourth and fifth place both went to Spanish destinations, namely Fuerteventura and Costa Blanca with a week-long package deal costing travellers an average of £488 or £501 respectively. The popular holiday island of Crete came in at number six with an average price of £518.75 narrowly beating Bourgas, in Bulgaria, into seventh place where a week-long beach break costs 3p more on average at £518.78. Eighth place went to Lanzarote at £520 average price while ninth and tenth both went to places in Cyprus with packages in Larnaca and Paphos going for £532 and £538 respectively.
