Oscar Bobb is reportedly closing in on a return to action and is attempting to show Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola he is ready for his comeback against Arsenal at the Emirates this weekend

Forgotten Manchester City star Oscar Bobb could make his long-awaited return against Arsenal this weekend, according to reports.

Bobb had emerged as City’s next big talent and was in line for a big breakthrough season under Pep Guardiola before fracturing his leg in a training session last summer.

It was a massive blow to the 21-year-old, but the Norwegian is now closing in on a return to action and is attempting to show his manager he is ready for his comeback at the Emirates this weekend, according to the Daily Mail.

Bobb started training at the start of this month to slowly work his way back to full fitness, though it is understood this Sunday’s showdown might come too soon for him.

City have endured a nightmare season that saw them win once in 11 matches at the end of 2024, while they have also battle a crippling injury crisis.

Bobb has been one of five City players who are currently unavailable, including Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, Jeremy Doku and Rodri – who is out for the season.

City have a demanding run of fixtures coming up that Bobb will hope to be part of once he is fully fit. After their trip to title chasers Arsenal, they travel to League One side Leyton Orient for an FA Cup fourth-round clash before four tough Premier League games against Newcastle, Liverpool, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.

Guardiola will be pleased to have Bobb back at his disposal. He will add to his current options of Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish and Savinho who can play on the wing.

Bobb joined City as a 15-year-old in 2019 after emerging as one of Norway’s biggest talents and has so far made 27 appearances for the Sky Blues, winning four trophies already in his career.

And Guardiola was full of praise for the forward after impressing in pre-season, he said: “Sometimes he’s a bit shy but when he plays without fear he has incredible potential.”
