A woman has revealed that she dumped her boyfriend after discovering a ‘disgusting’ habit he had – and it’s a dealbreaker for a number of people who labelled him ‘repulsive’

A disgruntled woman has kicked her boyfriend to the curb after uncovering what she deemed a “disgusting” and “nasty” tendency – leading her to call time on their relationship.

Sure, we all begrudge the hassle of washing our bedsheets – getting those corners just right is no small feat. Yet, sleep experts are sounding the alarm: fail to keep your bedding clean and you could be bunking down with dust mites.

These unwelcome bedfellows can pad out their residence with faecal output, a nasty contributor to conditions like allergies, asthma, rhinitis and eczema. An Australian called Anna got the shock of her life upon learning her boyfriend, Jacob, was a scant twicer-a-year sheet washer.

After two years together, moving in laid bare an array of ‘red flag’ routines. It all snowballed when Anna was faced with the sight of “massive dumps” bobbing in their loo that never saw the flush.

Anna recalls her fella as becoming “lazy, gross, and entitled”, slamming her domestic diligence as insanity. Taking to Reddit, she described how tackling him about his slack sheet sanitization went south.

On texting to nudge him about a wash, Jacob hit back with a baffled “why”, retorting that they’d already done the deed the prior week. As she pushed for weekly washes citing dirt, he labelled it ludicrous, a ploy to pile more onto his plate.

The stunned girlfriend was horrified to learn that her now ex-boyfriend only washed his sheets every six months. In a text exchange posted on Reddit, Anna expressed her disgust: “Is that a joke because that’s disgusting. I don’t feel comfortable sleeping in a bed with musty sheets.”

Jacob retorted, “If you want something done a certain way you have got to do it then, that’s how it works,” This conversation hinted at the eventual demise of their relationship.

Anna confessed she had been oblivious for years, as Jacob always blamed his roommate for being the “messy” one and would frantically tidy up whenever she visited. She said, “When we discussed moving in and chore habits, he only told me what I wanted to hear. I was bamboozled.”

She continued, “I can’t be the only one who think this is absolutely disgusting, right? Every two months is already really gross. Only twice a year is just f***ing nasty.”

The situation worsened as she revealed, “He also never flushed the toilet. I would walk in and be greeted by his massive dumps, or step on a p****-soaked tile.”

Reddit users were quick to react, condemning Anna’s former beau as “repulsive”. One user questioned: “How were you able to stay with this guy after this exchange? My skin is itching by reading this.”

Another shared: “When me and my wife were dating, she said she knew she loved me when I had four sets of sheets I rotated every Sunday.”

A third chimed in: “That’s so foul – I don’t think I could share a space with someone like that.” A sleep specialist previously told the Mirror that germs and bacteria, which we cannot see with the naked eye, can accumulate on our bed sheets overnight. A Bed Kingdom spokesperson said: “Washing bedding can be seen as a hassle and a chore for many of us.

“As with any chore, it can be easy to procrastinate and leave it to the last minute, but the potential effects on your health are a great reason to dedicate the time.

“Sticking to a schedule of stripping the bed in the morning is a useful way to keep on top of your washing as you will be rewarded with clean sheets the next time you get into bed. If you can dry your sheets in the sunlight, this will save you money on tumble dryer costs as well as killing germs further.”
