South Wales Police rushed to the scene of the ‘serious assault’ on Friday before cordoning off a portion of the Tesco store’s car park as a man was raced to hospital

A man has been rushed to hospital after he was seriously assaulted in a Tesco car park.

The attack on the 40-year-old happened in the Tesco Superstore in St Mellons, Cardiff on Friday evening and multiple suspects remain at large.

South Wales Police descended on the scene before cordoning off a portion of the car park. The force confirmed one man was taken to hospital and an investigation has been launched but no arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for the force told WalesOnline: “South Wales Police is investigating a serious assault which happened at approximately 9.15pm on Friday (October 4) in the car park of Tesco St. Mellons, near to the Willows Pub. A 40-year-old man is in hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening at this time. Enquiries are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.”
