Tommy Fury has revealed the truth behind his love for Molly-Mae Hague from their first meeting in a hot tub on Love Island

Tommy Fury has revealed the truth behind his love for Molly-Mae Hague, weeks after they split and he addressed claims that he had cheated.

The 25-year-old professional boxer has spoken about his first meeting with his former fiance, in a hot tub on ITV2 dating reality show, Love Island, in 2019.

In January last year they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Bambi, and got engaged on top of a clip in Ibiza – with Bambi being part of the romantic proposal. But in August, Molly-Mae announced the shock news that her and Tommy had split.

Tommy has now told the Daily Mail his thoughts about Molly-Mae when they first met and how their love blossomed in the coming months and years. Speaking about the moment that he was about to meet Molly-Mae, who had entered the Love Island villa as a late arrival, Tommy said that he looked to impress by wearing “the tightest pair of black trunks I could find” and that he “dropped down and did close to 100 press-ups.” before heading to the terrace to meet Molly.

Tommy said that he couldn’t believe his luck as when he saw Molly in the hot tub, he thought, “I had never seen anyone who was more my type.” Tommy added that he looked to bring some light to a situation that could have been awkward. He said: “Molly was nervous, as it was her first appearance on the show. She invited me to join her in the hot tub. As I stepped in, I made a joke about falling into the water.”

It went well though and Tommy continued: “She reached out her arm saying, ‘Come to me’ and we had an awkward kiss hello on the cheek before I scooted to the opposite corner of the tub.”

Tommy said that he really liked Molly from the first instance, and was worried that he was doing “the worst flirting ever.” The boxer said that he was pleased to find out that they were both 20 at the time, shared the same birthday month and that Molly had recently moved to Manchester, where he also lived.

Speaking about their first meeting, Tommy said: We hit it off instantly and the conversation flowed. Molly told me she was a social media influencer but had worked in a gym before that, so there was yet more connection. I lost the little cool I had left and told her she was my ideal woman.”

After that first date, Tommy said that Molly “knew I was smitten. I said on camera straight afterwards that she went through my heart, did a 360 spin and then came back through my head.”

As their relationship grew, Tommy said that their feelings for each other were real. He said: “We didn’t fake it. We had integrity about ourselves and our relationship. Our fledgling love was being tested all the time and we survived everything the programme and our own insecurities threw at us.

“We had such a great connection and brought out the best in each other. I wasn’t sure what I had done to deserve her. Two weeks into the show we had our first kiss, which was eventful because we were in a hall and the camera wasn’t on us.”
