A fourth Manchester United player has pulled out of international duty, with winger Amad Diallo following Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United have suffered another blow after Amad Diallo was forced to pull out of the Ivory Coast squad.

The winger joins Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Noussair Mazraoui in withdrawing from international duty. Garnacho pulled out of the Argentina squad due to a knee injury.

“I had knee problems in the last two matches, and I won’t be able to be with the national team, but I hope to recover so I can be on the next date [against Paraguay and Peru in November],” he confirmed on Instagram.

Mainoo and Mazraoui have also suffered knocks, with United stating that all three players will remain at Carrington as a ‘precaution’. And Amad will now join them back in Manchester, with the Ivorian Football Federation announcing that he has returned to United for “medical monitoring”.

The club have since confirmed that he is missing the Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone due to an illness rather than an injury. United boss Erik ten Hag has had some good news in terms of player availability though, with Leny Yoro nearing a return from injury.

Yoro, who signed from Lille for £52million earlier this summer, picked up a foot injury in pre-season and has yet to return to action. However, he has stepped up his rehabilitation and shared a video on Instagram of himself jogging on a treadmill with the caption: “On the way back.”

When asked for an update on Yoro’s recovery last month, Ten Hag said: “Yes, he is doing very well. It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon, is that he is now in the right planning process.

“He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training.” It comes at a time when Ten Hag is under huge pressure, with United making their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

The Red Devils have picked up just eight points from seven league games so far, but Ten Hag remains confident he still has the backing of club chiefs. “I don’t have any idea that is different because they should have told me,” he said.

“We communicate – very open, very transparent. I would say every day we talk, so I expect I will speak with them. We know what we are working through, it’s a long-term process. We have come through two very tough away games. This is a team, we showed the belief and faith we have.”
