Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have a chance to keep their recent resurgence going with a Premier League win against West Ham United in London on Sunday afternoon

Manchester United go into Sunday’s Premier League encounter with West Ham United looking for their first back-to-back league wins of the season.

Erik ten Hag’s side go into the game off the back of a third successive draw in the Europa League. Christian Eriksen gave them a first-half lead against Fenerbahce, only for Youssef En-Nesyri to equalise for Jose Mourinho’s team.

Ten Hag remains under pressure as manager thanks to his team’s challenging start to the campaign, with a growing injury list not helping. Antony was forced off early in Turkey, while the likes of Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire are already on the sidelines.

United are set for a reunion with a member of Ten Hag’s FA Cup winning squad on Sunday. That’s one of the topics of discussion as Mirror Football brings you the latest from around Old Trafford.

United not giving up on Davies

Manchester United have made a ‘formal’ move for Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, according to reports in Germany. The Canadian international is out of contract in the summer, and the Premier League club are understood to be gathering information ahead of a potential official approach in the new year.

United aren’t the only interested party, though. Real Madrid have long been admirers of Davies, who joined Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018.

While Davies is likely to command a hefty amount in wages, this could be offset by the lack of a transfer fee. Left-back has been a problem position for United this season and last, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both sidelined through injury.

Wan-Bissaka warning ahead of reunion

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is due to face his old Manchester United team-mates for the first time on Sunday after his summer move to West Ham, and has been handed a warning by Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui. The right-back, who cost United £50m from Crystal Palace in 2019, moved to East London for less than a third of that amount.

The 26-year-old has impressed in flashes since his move, but Lopetegui is expecting a little more. Aaron has a good profile and good potential to develop more,” the former Wolves manager told reporters. “He can become a consistent player in a defensive way but in attack too. It’s about the work of the full backs.

“They have to defend and attack. The first is to defend, the second is to attack. In this he has a good profile but he has to develop things to be more consistent.”

City reject United request

Manchester City have denied Manchester United’s request for players from both clubs to share a private jet flight to the Ballon d’Or ceremony, it has been claimed. City have seven players nominated across the men’s and women’s awards, while both clubs have players in contention for the Kopa Trophy – for players under the age of 21.

City are understood to have arranged a flight for their eight nominees – Rodri, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias, Lauren Hemp, Khadija Shaw, Yui Hasegawa and Savinho – to travel as part of a ‘sizeable’ delegation. According to The Mail, though United were told no when they asked if Kopa Trophy nominees Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho could join them.

Mainoo, Garnacho and Savinho (who spent last season in Spain with Girona) are among 10 nominees for their award. Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal is the favourite to pick up the Kopa Trophy, which was won by Jude Bellingham in 2023.
