Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has an uncertain future at Old Trafford as the club are set to delve into the transfer market to strengthen their forward line this summer

Juventus are interested in a transfer for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund and could offer midfielder Douglas Luiz as a makeweight in the deal. The Serie A giants have long been interested in the former Atalanta forward.

United have failed to help Hojlund become a consistent goalscorer since his £72million move to Old Trafford. The Denmark star, 22, has scored 25 goals across two seasons but only four of those have come in the Premier League this season.

The Red Devils are planning to replenish their forward line this summer and are expected to move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha, who has a £62.5m release clause, and have the likes of Victor Osimhen and Liam Delap under their consideration. Such moves across the forward line could leave Hojlund’s future uncertain as Ruben Amorim looks to form a team suited to his philosophy.

Reports in Italy suggest that Juve are hoping to take advantage as they also look towards forming a new forward line, with Dusan Vlahovic expected to leave. The Turin-based side are hoping to boost their reserves with £34m from his sale.

To aid in their bid for Hojlund, Juventus would consider using ex-Arsenal target Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian only joined the club from Aston Villa less than a year ago but has struggled to make a strong impression.

Luiz is seen as an ‘important’ card to play in any negotiations despite his difficult time in Italy. The former Villa ace has made 24 appearances for the Old Lady but failed to find the net or provide an assist since his £42m move.

The 26-year-old was once the subject of multiple deadline-day bids from Arsenal and could already be searching for the next step in his career. Despite limited game time under Thiago Motta, Chelsea are credited with interest in the midfielder.

In January, Luiz was touted as possible part of a swap deal that would have seen Joshua Zirkzee head to northern Italy after his own difficult start. It remains to be seen if United could be tempted by Luiz’s presence in any offer for Hojlund.

Amorim suggested that Hojlund recently played his best game under the Portuguese coach’s stewardship. The young forward impressed in the Europa League semi-final first leg win over Athletic Bilbao.

The United boss refused to get carried away with ‘s performance however. “It’s hard to say but I think it was the best game that he had with me as a coach,” he said.

“He helped the team a lot. He secured the ball and made the runs, and then decided quite well. It’s a good moment for him but like Harry [Maguire] he needs to understand that everything can change. Let’s focus on the next one. This is in the past, we have a tough one on Sunday against Brentford and then again in the second leg.”
