Maura Higgins is said to have drunkenly kissed married McFly star Danny Jones – who she met on the latest series of I’m A Celeb – at a BRIT Awards afterparty in March
Maura Higgins has posted snaps of her ‘wholesome picnic date’ as she tries to distance herself from THAT Danny Jones kiss. The 34-year-old former Love Island star posted a video of herself wearing a demure white floral summer dress alongside a female pal in a matching outfit.
The pair popped open a bottle of red wine and frolicked on the grass at celeb hangout Soho Farmhouse as the words over the top of the video said: “The most beautiful things in life are not just things. They are people and places, memories and pictures. They are feelings are moments and smiles and laughter.”
Her celeb pals were quick to comment on the post, with Tasha Ghouri writing: “So cuteeee.” Fans also commented with one posting: “The cutest duo.” Another wrote: “Awww this is so sweet. You both look so gorgeous.” A third wrote: “Awwwww golden girls.” A fourth said: “Gorgeous girls and those dresses are a dream.” While a fifth added: “This is what true friends do – laugh together & make memories.”
It comes weeks after I’m A Celebrity star Maura was caught locking lips with married McFly singer Danny at a late night BRIT Awards afterparty. Danny and Maura, who met on the latest series of I’m A Celeb – which 39-year-old Danny won – were seen looking close at a glitzy party at 180 The Strand before heading onto the five-star Nobu Hotel in London for more drinks on March 1.

Danny was seen giving Maura a peck before moving in to kiss her on the lips in front of onlookers. An insider said that they “seemed to be having a great time,” adding: “They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss.” Danny has since issued a grovelling apology to his wife Georgia Horsley, who is also mum to their seven-year-old son Cooper.
In a statement, the McFly singer said: “Hello everyone, sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately. I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.”
A source close to Danny said: “Danny has been mortified about what’s happened and the awful situation he has put everyone in. He cares so deeply about his family and hopes his words will draw a line under what has been a deeply upsetting time, for everyone. Georgia and his son are absolutely everything to him. Throughout all this, he has been so thankful for the support of his fans. He just wants to move on, and heal in private.”
Though former Miss England Georgia briefly moved out of the family home and went to stay with a friend, she is thought to be working through her marriage and her and Danny are still said to be ‘very much together’. A source told the Mirror: “They are clearly looking to put things behind them, and move on with their lives. It really hasn’t been a good time at all but they are very much together.”
Maura, who was recently linked to TOWIE star Pete Wicks, has yet to publicly comment on the kiss and has since fled to the US, where she has been spotted rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Kardashians and landed new work deals. But pals reportedly say she feels ‘stupid’ and blames herself for the mess caused after she kissed married Danny.
A source close to Maura told Closer magazine: “Maura has hit rock bottom as she blames herself for truly messing her everything up. She’s told pals she deeply regrets that moment and it was stupid, but there is truly nothing whatsoever going on between her and Danny. She’s gutted that she’s now being spoken of as a marriage wrecker. Maura knows Danny loves his wife and to think anything else is absurd.”
