Mike Tyson’s training camp was paid a visit by a boxing legend who’s known the 58-year-old for most of his life and couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched on and observed a workout

Muhammad Ali’s former manager has made a concerning Mike Tyson claim for Jake Paul ahead of their fight.

Nobody can say Iron Mike hasn’t been putting in the work ahead of his return to the ring aged 58. The boxing icon knows he’s going to have to be in the best shape possible to bridge the age gap to his opponent, who’s more than three decades his junior.

His team have regularly been sharing footage from his training camp, with more videos made public this week on social media. In one, Tyson was being watched by Gene Kilroy – Ali’s right-hand man throughout his legendary career.

Having first become aware of Tyson as a teenager, Kilroy knows him better than most. And he couldn’t believe what he was seeing in the gym just a matter of weeks out from fight night.

He exclaimed: “This is the strongest I’ve ever seen you. And I’ve known you since you were 13. This impresses the s*** out of me. Nothing impresses me.

“I’m going to tell you the truth. I don’t lie. I was worried about him travelling here, travelling there. I can sleep now at night. This is great.

“You done more workouts than what I’ve seen you do the whole time you fought Lennox Lewis. Am I right or wrong?” Tyson replied: “Different era brother. It’s a whole new ball game.”

“I’m proud of you, Mike. I’m proud of you. It’s a new generation,” added Kilroy. It appears Tyson has bounced back completely from the ulcer flare up which forced him to postpone the bout from July to next month.

He recently explained what caused that issue back in May – his diet. “I was doing too much bad food and stuff, and I got sick,” he told the Daily Mail, adding that he’s now steering clear of “processed foods” and is “eating clean”.

After months of speculation and backlash, the controversial showdown between Tyson and Paul is set to go ahead on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with a crowd of up to 90k expected to be in attendance and millions due to tune in on Netflix.
