Mike Tyson is preparing himself to take on Jake Paul in the ring and the former heavyweight champion of the world is not cutting any corners

Mike Tyson detailed his six-hour boxing sessions in preparation for his clash against Jake Paul.

Tyson, 58, will fight the former YouTuber at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15. Despite the controversy and the wide-scale worry for Tyson’s health and safety, the knockout artist has been getting himself into ferocious fighting shape.

While he admitted he allowed his diet to get out of control in the build-up to their original fight date in the summer, the New York native has made it clear that he is completely focussed. So much so that he has been putting in the hard yards in the gym.

Various videos of Tyson fighting has reminded the boxing world of the power he still holds. In case anybody was doubting his commitment, Tyson outlined what he does in the gym to get ready for a fight.

In an interview with the All the Smoke Fight podcast, Tyson said: “That was the first one and, God willing, these guys are offering me many more. The only thing thats tricky getting in shape

“I train all day, it starts at 11am and I might be done by 5pm. I have the strength and conditioning, the boxing, the sparring, it’s an all-day process.

“You don’t have any time for family or friends, it’s tricky. With the fight with Roy, when I started training I said: ‘This is the reason why I quit fighting, the pain’.

“But you get over that and now they have medicine and painkillers. I take the weekend off and that builds my stamina.”

His bout against the Ohio native will be the first time he has stepped into the ring since he faced Roy Jones Jr in 2020. While the clash with Jones Jr was an exhibition, his clash with Paul will be a fully sanctioned, professional fight that will count against both fighters’ professional records.

Tyson currently boasts an outstanding record of 50 victories, 44 knockouts and six defeats. However, he has not fought a professional bout since he was forced to retire in the sixth round against Kevin McBride in 2005.

The boxing world has largely looked at the clash with Paul with disdain. But Tyson is not interested in the thoughts of other people, admitting that the prospect of taking on Paul in the ring was an easy decision.

When asked why he decided to face Paul, he said: “I had an exhibition with Roy Jones and he was on the card. As time went on he started building a name for himself and it was a no-brainer that the two of us would get together so we made a decision to do it.

“This fight is not going to change my lifestyle financially. I’m a fighter, I feel good and i feel like I can beat this guy.”
