However, this Wednesday, one hospital was forced to stop all new patient admissions due to a horror outbreak of the vomiting bug. Elsewhere, new details of Liam Payne’s will were revealed with Cheryl taking an important role and cardinals met at the Vatican for the papal conclave.
NHS hospital lockdown over virus outbreak as wards closed to new patients
This lunchtime, our news team broke the story that an NHS hospital had been forced to shut its wards to new patients amid a virus outbreak. NHS officials at Belford Hospital in the Highlands warned visitor numbers would need to be restricted due to norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug.
The unpleasant virus is a common illness that can cause bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea. Those who wished to visit patients at the hospital were asked to contact staff.
“We have had to close both wards in Belford Hospital to new admissions due to norovirus,” An NHS Highland spokesperson said in a statement. “Restricted visiting is also in place but please contact staff on the ward if you feel your visit is necessary and they will be able to advise.”

Liam Payne’s jaw-dropping fortune he left to loved ones after dying without will
Cheryl Tweedy has been granted the power of administration of the late Liam Payne’s estate after he died without writing a will. The Strip That Down singer, who shares an eight-year-old son named Bear with Cheryl, left behind £24.3million after tragically dying aged 31 in October last year after falling from a third-floor balcony in Argentina.
According to court documents filed on May 1, music lawyer Richard Bray was also named as an administrator. Liam Payne left behind £28.6million, which after expenses and debts were paid, went down to £24.3million.
Following his death, Cheryl paid a devastating tribute to Liam as she described his death as an “earth shattering event”. She said at the time: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

Pakistan described the strikes as an “act of war”, and claimed it shot down several Indian fighter jets in retaliation.
