Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has been open about her decision to ditch lip filler but says she came close to doing some irreversible damage before changing her outlook

Molly-Mae: Behind It All – Official trailer

Shocked Molly-Mae Hague says filler nearly ‘destroyed’ her face as she spoke of her cosmetic regret after seeing a photo she wish didn’t exist.

The star admits that she came close to doing some real damage and it would have had a serious impact on her life had she not reversed them when she did. The Love Island beauty spoke about her image struggles win part two of her documentary series, Molly Mae: Behind It All.

In a teaser for the upcoming episodes, the 25-year-old is shown photos from 2019 back when she was using fillers. She didn’t want to look as the YouTube vlog grab was presented to her after the procedure inflated her cheeks and lips. The photos sparked plenty of online debate and she has been candid about her experience ever since.

The influencer admitted she didn’t recognise herself at 21 because she had so much cosmetic work done and felt positive about how she had the money to ‘fix’ the excessive amount in her face. She is shown the snap in the clip and Molly yells “No! No” before pushing her phone away.

Later, she speaks on camera and adds: “If filler had been a permanent thing, and I wasn’t able to, like, reverse what I’d done. I could have genuinely, completely destroyed my face.” She had started documenting her filler removal from 2020 onwards, and speaking last year, she said: “The other day I was actually having a moment of reflection on my filler journey and I realise I haven’t had filler now in coming up to five years, well over four years.

“I haven’t had any filler put into my face which if you remember my filler debacle, my filler scandal it’s quite, not an achievement but it’s quite a journey to reflect on really. It’s been so long. I’ve fallen in love with a new skincare product recently and I truly feel like it’s down to products like these that have helped me on this journey and steered me away from injectables.”

Back in May last year, Molly-Mae admitted she was “terrified” of herself as she felt so unrecognisable. “I wouldn’t say I got addicted to it, but by the age of 21, I didn’t look like the same person. I literally looked like a different person. When I look back at pictures now, I’m terrified of myself. I’m like, ‘Who was that girl?’ I don’t know what happened,” she said on a podcast.

She added: “It was horrendous. It was utterly horrendous. My face was literally like, it was just awful. That was the moment for me as well where I was like, I think things need to change. I thought, one day I’m going to get my lips dissolved. It was a process. I went and got my lips dissolved and I posted about it on YouTube and I didn’t expect the response that I got. It was huge.”
