Wild boar causes chaos after storming into supermarket

This is the moment terrified shoppers run for cover after a wild boar rampages through a supermarket in India.

The animal was caught on video leaping over stacks of produce and running around the store in the Indian state of Kerala. Employees said the wild boar caused chaos before eventually exiting through the same open glass door it had entered the supermarket.

The boar then made its way towards Kumbala School Road leaving onlookers stunned. Luckily no one was hurt as the store had only a handful of customers who managed to keep their distance from the wild boar. Problems with herds of wild boar have been escalating in the area sparking criticism from residents. Residents felt no meaningful steps had been taken leading to the continued damage of residential areas and farmlands by the herds.

They have urged the government to take prompt and effective action to address the wild boar problem before further damage is done. Manjeswaram Member of Legislative Assembly AKM Ashraf raised the issue in the assembly prompting the Forest Minister to promise action.

It comes after a brave OAP fought a wild boar to the death on a mountain after it charged her. The brave 77-year-old tussled with the beast after it attacked her while was working in a field. Luckily she was able to overcome the attack by using her trusted sickle.

Despite suffering several bites in the attack, the blade-wielding gran come out on top, despite suffering several bites. Images show the woman standing over the slain boar in bloodstained clothes. The incident happened in southern China, on September 27, 2024. The unnamed woman is understood to have been alone at the time of the boar attack.

She had gone up the mountain to carry out some farm work when she was suddenly attacked by the aggressive animal. Her relatives said the board had attacked two other villagers in four days, as reported by What’s the Jam. After killing the animal with her sickle, the woman was taken to a nearby hospital for medical checks. Images of her battle have been widely shared on the Chinese social network BiliBili.

Wild boars have increasingly been viewed as menaces in China with the government removing the animal from the list of protected wild life. Despite this, it does not mean they can be hunted at will.

According to the government-sanctioned China Daily newspaper, the July 2023 change was due to the “wild boar species is no longer threatened with survival, and the population in many areas is too high.” It added wild boards are found in 28 of China’s provinces and that they had been “causing harm” in 857 counties across the country.
