’12 Days of M&S’ saw shoppers open virtual doors – one for every day between December 1 and December 12 – on the Sparks app, just like a digital advent calendar, to unveil a prize

Marks and Spencer has confirmed its popular “12 Days of M&S” digital advent calendar won’t be returning this Christmas.

The giveaway has been a festive staple for M&S fans since 2022. It was available through the Sparks app and saw shoppers open 12 virtual doors – one for every day between December 1 and December 12 – to unveil a prize. Last year, some of the prizes that were available included prosecco, gin, Percy Pigs, clothes and Christmas food and decorations.

You didn’t win a prize every time, as some of the doors contained discounts on food, wine, flowers and clothing. Once you opened all 12 doors, you were then entered into a competition to win a £10,000 M&S gift card. But sadly, M&S has confirmed to the Mirror that it won’t be bringing back its “12 Days of M&S” this year.

The supermarket says shoppers will still get festive offers, starting from November 28, including 20% off nightwear, homeware and clothing. These will appear in the Sparks app. We’ve asked M&S if the offers will be personalised, based on your normal shopping habits, and we’ll update this article when we know more.

An M&S spokesperson told the Mirror: “This Christmas, all of our Sparks customers will enjoy festive offers to add some magic and sparkle to their festive shopping experience, however and whenever they choose to shop with us. This is just one of the ways we’re simplifying the shopping experience for our customers throughout the festive period and continuing to transform our loyalty scheme, Sparks – to make it even better and more relevant to our customers. “

It comes after M&S released its new Christmas range, which includes a new Sleigh Ride Colin the Caterpillar, which features Colin sitting on a chocolate sleigh, with a chocolate candy cane and presents on top of him. M&S says this festive Colin has 46% more chocolate than its regular version.
