Lots of beauty editors – including our own Laura Mulley – swear by Medik8 Crystal Retinal for fresher, clearer, younger looking skin – and it’s currently slashed in price

As someone with occasionally sensitive skin, it took me a while to get on board with using retinol in my skincare routine – that was until I discovered Medik8’s popular Crystal Retinal range, which is easily buildable and delivers results without any irritation.

The key is the use of retinal, which works 11 times faster than retinol, and is delivered to the skin in a stable and non-irritating formula, helping to tackle fine lines, dark spots and even blemishes, and it’s available in a range of different strengths, from 1 to 20. I’ve written about this wonder product numerous times, and find that it makes my skin look clearer, brighter and more plump – and I’ve found where it’s currently at its lowest price.

All strengths of Medik8 Crystal Retinal are currently reduced on Amazon as part of day two of the retailer’s Prime Big Deal Days shopping event, making them cheaper than at other retailers including Sephora, LookFantastic and Medik8’s own website. The exact discount amount varies between the strengths – ranging from 20%-24% off – with the exact one I currently use (Crystal Retinal 3, a good starting point for skin that’s not too super sensitive) down from £49 to £39.20. I’ll definitely be stocking up.

And it’s not just myself and my fellow beauty editors who love this product; shoppers have been praising it too, giving it thousands of five-star reviews across its various different retailers.

One Amazon customer wrote: “This is a great retinal, there was no adjustment period no dry down or flaking, the time release element is what makes it so easy to adapt to. Has already made a great difference to my skin. Not cheap but quality.”

Someone on Medik8’s website put: “I recently purchased Medik8 Crystal Retinal, and I’m already impressed with the results. After just a short time of use, I can feel a noticeable difference in my skin. The texture feels smoother, and my complexion looks more even. I love how gentle the formula is, even though it’s quite effective.”

A third happy Amazon shopper agreed, writing, “The lines around my cheekbones seemed to have softened. The product is gentle enough but seems to be doing a good job.”

One person, however, remarked that it’s not a miracle worker: “It does make a difference but *over time*, its important to keep expectations realistic.”

Fancy free takeaway delivery? Access to Deliveroo Plus is one of a host of advantages of Amazon Prime membership, including exclusive Prime Day discounts and perks on Hello Fresh, music, books and Prime Video. Usually £8.99 a month, you can now get a 30-day free trial to get access to the latest deals.

They’re certainly not wrong, but I think that this is one product that’s worth the hype – and if you want to try it out for less, today’s the day to shop, while it’s currently at its lowest price.

If you’re looking for an alternative, our head of beauty Zoe has been totally bowled over by the new Kate Somerville Mega-A Skin Transforming Serum, priced at £72, saying that “this anti-ageing retinal serum knocked five years off me in seven days”.

For a cheaper alternative, The Ordinary Retinal 0.2% Emulsion Serum is another retinal-based skincare hero product, and significantly cheaper at £15.20.
