After having an affair for over a year, a woman managed to merticuously hide her infidelity from her husband and a ‘love rat’ investigator after realising she was being followed
A woman managed to outsmart her jealous husband when he hired a private investigator to uncover her affair.
Emma, 41, found out her husband Joe had paid a ‘love rat’ investigator as she cottoned on to being followed quite quickly. And she managed to pull the wool over her husband and the investigator’s eyes.
She revealed she’d been having an affair for over a year with a man she’d met online, and after a casual fling, it turned into something much deeper. However, her “jealous” husband started to get suspicious of her late-night working hours, frequent gym visits and mysterious phone calls. But the sneaky wife managed to stay under the radar and keep her affair under wraps – leaving the investigator to find no dirt on her.
The affair wasn’t something she had planned, but she said she and Joe had been “drifting apart” for years before she met her lover, Alex. “I knew it was wrong, but I couldn’t help myself. For the first time in years, I felt desired and alive. I wasn’t ready to give that up.”
However Joe started “questioning everything” such as why she was working late so often, why she was suddenly going to the gym every day and outright asked Emma if she was having an affair – something she admits she denied. “I knew I had to be smarter if I was going to keep my secret,” she added.
Emma revealed she then created a fake work project to cover for her late nights, and used a secret phone to speak to Alex. “I was always one step ahead,” she said. “I knew Joe was watching me, so I made sure there was nothing for him to find.” However Joe was convinced his wife had a sordid secret and hired a private investigator to follow her.
“I had no idea at first,” Emma admitted. “But looking back, there were signs – a car that seemed to follow me a few times, a stranger hanging around near my office. I realised what was happening and doubled down on my efforts to stay under the radar,” and her merticulous planning paid off.
The private investigator was unable to find “any concrete evidence of her affair” and Emma said Joe apologised to her for suspecting something. “He said he’d been paranoid and that he trusted me. It was a weird feeling – relief mixed with guilt. I knew I was lying to him, but I also knew I wasn’t ready to end things with Alex.”
Defending her decision to be unfaithful to her husband, Emma claimed the affair “isn’t just about sex” it’s more about reclaiming a part of her she thought she’d “lost”. “I love Joe, but our relationship had become so stale. With Alex, I feel like the woman I used to be – confident, sexy, and alive. I know it’s selfish, but I’m not ready to give that up. I’m living in the moment.”
“I know it’s not sustainable, but for now, I’m happy. And as long as I’m careful, no one has to get hurt,” she concluded. However Joe’s paranoia isn’t unusual. Private investigators have reported a surge in demand from people desperate to confirm their worst fears about their partners.
Jessica Leoni, a sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters.com said trust issues in relationships are at an all-time high. “Social media, dating apps, and websites like ours have made it easier than ever to have an affair, but they’ve also created a culture of suspicion. People are more paranoid than ever, and instead of communicating with their partners, they’re turning to private investigators for answers.”
However, Leoni warns that even the best detective work doesn’t always guarantee the truth. “The reality is that many affairs – especially those conducted through discreet platforms like IllicitEncounters – are almost impossible to trace. If someone is clever enough, they won’t leave a trail.”
