A woman confessed she lied to her partner about her age as she didn’t think he would want to date an 18-year-old – and said he was ‘disappointed’ when he found out
While age gap relationships aren’t uncommon, one woman has confessed she lied about her age to her partner who is 38 years older than her.
Leah was only 18 when she met Gary, 56, but she didn’t reveal her true age to him until afterwards.
While Gary said he was “disappointed” she had lied, he managed to look past it, and the pair ended up getting married and raising a family.
Leah, from the Philippines, was worried Gary, from America, wouldn’t want to meet her if he knew her true age, but Gary said he’d already developed feelings for her before he knew her age.
She spoke to Truly and said: “I actually lied about my age, if I told him that I am 18 I think there’s no way he would consider meeting me.”
Gary then explained: “I didn’t care whether they were 21 or 41. I was actually a little disappointed she had lied to me. I felt is this someone I’m gonna be able to trust? But I’d already gotten some feelings for her and got to know her a little bit and so I was willing to forgive her for that.”
The pair have now been together for nearly six years and and Leah shares videos to her YouTube of their relationship. Addressing their age gap, Leah opened up about why she lied.
“It was my fault as I wasn’t honest about my age when we first met. I don’t think he would have even given me a chance to date if he knew I was 18, but if I was honest, we wouldn’t be here now,” she explained on her YouTube video.
Leah already had a child when she met Gary, and said having a child so young “forced” her to be mature, and she has no desire to go out and party but instead look after her child and find a relationship. “I have learned a lot about life since being with Gary. He has helped me to grow as a mother, a wife, and a person, and he guides me,” she added.
