A man who told his wife to cancel their Postcode Lottery subscription has won £200,000 in the Millionaire Street prize, with other members of their street receiving the same life-changing amount

A man almost cost his wife a lifechaning jackpot win – but fortunately she ignored him entirely and went on to win £200,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Jonny had told wife Sally to cancel her subscription to the postcode draw two months before her big win, and is now pleased she ignored his request. The pair bagged a large sum of cash from the lottery payout. Sally and Jonny shared the £1million pot with four other neighbours following their draw. PE15 9LU landed the Millionaire Street prize back in March.

Each of the winners received £200,000 including mum-of-two Sally, who says she “wasn’t going to do what he [her husband] said anyway.”

Traffic management operator Jonny said: “I said to her that she should cancel it two months ago, but she never listens to me. Now I’m glad she ignored me. I would have been crying today.” Sally, a hospital operating department practitioner, has now planned a dream holiday to Walt Disney World with their son and daughter, and say the win could speed up their plans for a new home.

Sally added: “Oh my God! I didn’t think it would be that much. You have no idea how much this means to me. I had some bubbly in the fridge just in case. We would like to stay in March. All my family are here. We would also like to take the kids to Florida. That would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We’re already booked to go to Benidorm this year, so maybe next year.”

Jonny added: “I’m speechless. Sally was like, ‘It is going to be a grand’. She works so hard at the hospital. She deserves this. You always dream that something like this might happen, but you never think that it will.” Their neighbours Tracy and Paul were elated with their win too, and say it gives them a “whole different perspective” on their lives, The Sun reported.

Tracy said: “I work full time and Paul works hard. He’ll never pack up work. But he can at least calm down a bit. I’m full-time at the moment, but I’ve got to speak to the best boss in the world to see if I can go part-time. I looked in the mirror as I closed the showhome up and said a little prayer that whatever it was would be more than I’ve got.”
