Nestlé chocolate fans have pointed out a similarity with a Spanish chocolate treat which looks just like a nostalgic bar which was discontinued just two years ago
Nestlé has taken shoppers on a nostalgic trip down memory lane by releasing a product that resembles an iconic but discontinued chocolate bar.
Nestlé’s Jungly Figuritas, originally from Spain, have recently been spotted in Poundland stores across the UK. Priced at just £1, the chocolate treats have sparked excitement among British shoppers, with many drawing comparisons to the much-loved Animal Bar. The Animal Bar, a nostalgic childhood favourite for many, was discontinued in November 2023 after an impressive 60-year run. The decision to remove it from shelves left countless fans heartbroken, particularly those who had fond memories of enjoying the treat during the 1990s and early 2000s. Of course, nothing was going to match the deliciousness of it – until now.
In a statement to Sky News, Nestlé explained the reasoning behind the decision, saying: “This was due to the low performance of the product and a steady decline in its sales over the past few years.” Much like the Animal Bar, Jungly Figuritas consists of individually shaped wild animal figures made from milk chocolate. However, instead of the familiar flat chocolate bar format, these treats come in bite-sized pieces, featuring different animal shapes, such as lions and elephants.
‘They remind me of animal bars’
A product description on the Nestlé Family Club website highlights some of its key features, stating: “This bag contains figurines in the shape of milk chocolate animals and pieces of JUNGY biscuits. Made with 100% sustainably grown cocoa, selected through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan. Rainforest Alliance certified.”
Naturally, the discovery of this nostalgic treasure has sent social media into a frenzy, with fans expressing their excitement. One person said: “OMG they remind me of animal bars,” while another added: “Animal bars!! OMG I used to love them!! Six years ago I would just get a slushy and them when out.” But, people living in Spain are particularly fortunate, as they have access to a wider variety of this indulgent treat. Alongside Jungly Figuritas, there is also a full bar version available in milk, white, and dark chocolate options, giving Spanish somewhat of an upper-hand.
While Poundland is not shown as stocking the item on its website, some stores may or may not have them on the shelves. In recent months, Nestle has also announced the discontinuing of childhood classic chocolate bar Breakaway, along with Yorkie Biscuit. Breakaway, which is made up of a crunchy digestive biscuit covered in milk chocolate and was first launched in 1970, and is no longer produced as of March.
