Nutritionist Maty Harrington shared her ‘gut health, immune boosting drink’ she’s been making every morning since the temperatures have dropped and the evenings have gotten darker

The weather has become cold, and sometimes, this means our immunity can take a hit, so we need to do everything to boost our immune systems.

As the cold sets in, it seems we become more prone to catching colds. So, if you sense the onset of a sniffle, it’s best to nip it in the bud before it fully takes hold.

Nutritionist Maty Harrington emphasised the importance of “gut and immune health” as we transition into the colder months, revealing: “I’ve been making this gut health, immune boosting drink every single morning and it’s seriously life-changing.” So, what’s her secret recipe?

Firstly, she adds a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, which she says “helps support the good bacteria in our gut”. She explained: “It’s also amazing for balancing blood sugar which just helps with everything.”

Lemon juice is next on the list, which she hails as her “secret weapon” against “bloat and constipation”. She advised: “It works the best when you drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.”

Finally, Maty shared that she prepares a “honey and garlic concoction” annually, praising it as an “amazing natural remedy around cold and flu season”.

“It’s almost like a guarantee that you won’t get sick,” she boasted, as she’s tried and tested the tea herself and has seen great results. She said you “can eat the garlic too”, but for this she just spooned in the honey.

The TikTok user said top this all off with “warm water, not too hot”, because it helps to “flush the system”. Some were concerned about the “taste” of it, but others argued the benefits outweighed anything else. One said: “Healthy girl fall.”
