Olivia Bowen recently gave birth to her second child with husband Alex Bowen who she met while taking part in Love Island
Love Island’s Olivia Bowen has said that she thought she was going to die as she recalls her traumatic birth. The TV personality recently gave birth to her second child with husband Alex Bowen.
She has now spoken about losing a huge amount of blood when having her daughter, Siena Grace, in August of this year. The couple, who are already parents to their three-year-old son Abel, announced they had welcomed a baby girl via social media.
However, they have also been open about the fact that the birth wasn’t all smooth sailing. It’s been reported that the mum-of-two needed an emergency C-section as well as a blood transfusion after losing nearly three litres of blood due to her tearing her uterus in two places.

Originally, Olivia had planned a home birth, but after a severe bladder prolapse, she was rushed to the hospital and taken to surgery. She has now spoken to The Sun about the whole experience.
She said: “I thought I was going to lose my life.” Alex explained that in the moment, the “atmosphere” changed when he saw “the colour drain from Olivia’s face”. He said “it was the scariest thing” he’s ever had to see before.
Olivia then had to recover at home for the following months which she said was made harder by having to also look after her older child at the same time.
Sharing her birth news on Instagram, Olivia wrote: “I can’t even find the words other than to say our beautiful girl Siena Grace is here, and we are all bursting with love.
“It wasn’t an easy ride but every second worth it a thousand times over. I love my babies.” Olivia’s pregnancy and birthing experience are covered in the couple’s ITV2 reality series.
Alex and Olivia revealed back in March that they were expecting twins at the start of the pregnancy but they sadly lost one of their babies eight weeks into the pregnancy.
Olivia appeared on ITV’s Loose Women where she said she found out they were having twins just before Christmas when they went to an early six week scan.
She said: “We had that two week period we were looking at cars, looking at car seats, planning bedrooms… and something happened called vanishing twin syndrome.
“One of the babies just basically didn’t have a heartbeat but I’d had no symptoms, no pain, no bleeding to tell me that was what we were walking into. We were floored, we were expecting to have these two little babies.”
Vanishing twin syndrome occurs when one twin passes away in the womb and ‘vanishes’ and studies suggest happens in roughly 36 per cent of twin pregnancies.
