Spa and holidays lovers have been raving about a stunning spa in Romania – the ‘tropical paradise’ has been dubbed as a ‘little haven near the city’ and isn’t too expensive
Relaxation lovers are raving about one of Europe’s biggest and “best” spas, just a short, cheap flight away from the UK.
Therme București, located north of Bucharest in Romania, is one of Europe’s largest wellness and relaxation centres, boasting a botanical garden with over 800,000, grand indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, saunas, mineral pools, relaxation areas, and plenty of spa treatments on offers. It has been inundated with five-star reviews on Trip Advisor and visitors have described the venue as “a little haven near the city” and a “tropical paradise”.
Open 365 days a year, the facility has an average of more than 3,500 visitors a day and on peak days, the number goes up to 7,500 visitors, says Europe Spa. One influencer, Emma Cooke, explained recently how she managed to to visit the hotspot without spending a fortune.
The travel influencer, who uses handle @petite.blondine on TikTok and Instagram, paid £25 for her flight. She also paid £9.30 for a taxi to the spa, plus £32 for her spa day, as it is £9.30 to enter and then extra for treatments and food and drink.
She exclaimed in a video: “The best spa I’ve ever been to. A full day here doesn’t cost more than £32. You got on a £25 flight to Bucharest and now you’re at the biggest spa in Europe.
“It was ten minutes from the airport and cost £9.30. It’s filled with lush trees and thermal pool with swim up bars, there’s a beach, a sauna with a cinema, dead sea baths and the cocktails are £5.”
Rushing to agree with the spa visitor, one traveller commented on her video clip and said: “I went here for my hen do five years ago and it was epic. Could not believe the price.”
Another that went on a trip there, added: “I went here in March and confirm it was amazing! Busy but this was to be expected and didn’t ruin the experience at all.” “So cool,” wrote another.
How to get there
You can often book flights to Bucharest for less than £50, as Wizz Air are offering flights for £22.99 while Ryanair have an August offer for £16.99. Direct flights can be found from London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, and Edinburgh airports.
The closest airport in Romania to the spa is Otopeni Airport. It is a seven minute drive from the airport to the spa, so a lot of people choose to book an Uber or Bolt journey. Trip Advisor reviewers have advised people to use these companies instead of local taxi ranks as you may get “scammed” or “ripped off”, they claim.
Alternatively, you can get in a bus after your flight, which takes 17 minutes to get to the spa and runs every five minutes or so. There is also a free bus, run by Therme Bucharest, that departs from Piata Romana – you can identify it easily as it will say ‘Therme’ in the windscreen.
You can also catch local bus R442 to Therme Bucharest. Getting around Bucharest centre, you can use the metro service.
