A £220,000 property in Whitehaven, Cumbria, which has been put on the market has received scathing criticism by people online for its colour-theme choice which overwhelms to house
A two-bedroom property which has been put on the market in Cumbria has been slammed by critics online for being “rank” and the “whitest” property they have ever seen.
The home in Whitehaven used to bed a three-bedroom property before it was downsized to two several years ago. Now, it available for around £220,000 in the Highlands estate, with the listing claiming it is a popular spot for people due to how close it is to the town centre.
However, since the house has been shared online it has been criticised by some for its appearance. From the outside, it looks like a modern and unassuming newbuild home. But when you take a closer look inside, you begin to see why people dislike it.
Images show a central hall which includes a small toilet on the left and takes you through the the living room. Once there, you can see a room consumed with the colour white. Everything is white except for the sofa and fireplace, including blinds, the cabinet where the TV is on and the flooring.
After the first few pictures it’s entirely clear what the theme of the home is, with the kitchen and sitting area adopting the same, some would say boring, colour. One of the only splashes of colour inside the property’s living room is a navy and white rug next to a door leading out to the back garden.
Luckily, for those upset over the lack of colour the home presents, the kitchen ditches the all-white theme and opts for a black marble counter-top, MailOnline reports.
But the move away from white is short-lived and when you make your way up stays everything which could be turned white has been. This includes the beds, bedding, chest of drawers and even the floors.
The first floor has two bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite, and a bathroom. There is a good sized garden to the rear, and front, and a driveaway which leads to the garage. The minimalist approach has taken the internet by storm with some liking the simple approach while others called it “rank” and “insane”.
One user said: “I feel like I’d have to wear sunglasses inside”. While another added: “I feel ill after looking at that.” A third person commented: “Imagine coming back here drunk and thinking someone erased the stairs.”
Twisting the knife even more, one user compared it to a scene from the Deathly Hallows Part Two, saying: “It’s like that bit in the last Harry Potter film where he ends up at King’s Cross with Dumbledore.”
Other users came up with scenarios where this choice of decoration would not go well with. One commented: “My dog would be rubbing his paws together in excitement as he runs through the house with muddy feet.” While another added: “Imagine walking in your front door to get flash banged every time.”
Unfortunately for the sellers, it wasn’t just the house which came under fire, with the location being criticised. One person joked: “There is no way on God’s green earth anyone is paying 235 grand to live in Whitehaven.”
There were, however, some people who enjoyed the look of the house. One person wrote: “I love it, it’s minimalist and it looks soooo clean.” Another added: “It will be so easy to decorate though, white is easy t paint over as a base.”
