When it comes to hot topics right now, rare coins is high up on the list.

Just recently, a rare £2 coin with the Queen’s head hit headlines as it could be worth £1,000 if you find it in your pocket. Now we’re not talking about the most scarce pieces out there as one man on Instagram recently shared an interesting fact about UK coins.

Jordan Cox, known as @couponkiduk, boasts 137,000 followers on the platform where he often shares the best deals and bargains he’s ever seen. But now the guru, who appears on ITV’s This Morning, discovered a pattern which can be formed with your change.

He said: “I didn’t know coins did this,” as a voiceover added: “UK coins form a shield pattern, can you see it?” Meanwhile in the caption, Jordan wrote: “I’m shook – and I’ve been a ‘money expert’ for 12 years.

“Find the right UK coins between 1p and 50p, and they can be arranged in a shield pattern. I post money saving reels tricks every week, check out my feed and follow for more!”

And it didn’t take long for the video to scoop thousands of likes, as well as comments. One joked: “My money isn’t in my bank account long enough to check things like this.” While another added: “Who knew?”

A third commented: “I never notice that before…” While a fourth chimed in: “Omg wow.” But other social media users couldn’t help but notice it was actually old news.

Someone wrote: “Are people genuinely only discovering this now? That in itself is mind-blowing to me.” Then another said: “I learned this on a tour of the Tower of London some years back and was equally astounded.”
