Haribo sweets are undoubtably one of the most popular treats you can gift someone. But now you might be blown away by this little-known hack which was shared on social media

If you’re hosting a sweet party, just know a pack of Haribos is bound to make an appearance.

The beloved sweets have been around for a very long time after Hans Riegel, a confectioner from Germany, founded Haribo back in 1920. It wasn’t until 1922 when the first gummy candy, known as the gummy bears, were created.

Riegel was inspired by the dancing bears which performed at street festivals in 19th century Germany. And now centuries on, Haribo sweets are still one of the most popular treats across the globe and even more so in the UK.

It’s safe to say a pack of Haribos can make the ultimate gift – or Christmas stocking filler since the festivities are near. Now you might be blown away by a little-known Haribo trick which has caused quite the meltdown on X, formerly Twitter.

On the Today Years Old account, which boasts 1.1million fans, it shows a woman discovering the hack before sprinting to her local supermarket to try it out for herself. The caption read: “Why do manufacturers do this and NEVER inform us?”

So instead of opening the packet and spilling all the goods inside, you can pull a strip which then enables you to close the sweets. Yes, it’s that simple. The woman in the clip is in utter disbelief as she says: “No way. I can’t believe it,” while learning the trick.

It’s quite a handy hack because often when you open a packet of sweets, you’re either forced to scoff the entire pack or find a clip which can keep it fresh for the next use. Now here you don’t need to worry about that because Haribo has you covered.

Since the video was shared earlier this month, it scooped 436,000 views and over 2,800 likes. One commented: “Yep it’s amazing open them all like this now.” While another added: “I had no idea.”

And a third chimed in: “It’s her utter disbelief that makes it. I felt the same.” Others, however, weren’t so convinced by the hack as someone pointed out: “It says it on the package.”

While another wrote: “Useless knowledge if you’re gonna eat the entire bag in one sitting.” So did you just learn this little-known hack? Leave us a comment below…
