After waving one last goodbye to his mother Pat last week, Phillip Schofield took to Instagram this Monday to announce he had ‘reunited’ his parents with a touching gesture.

Phillip Schofield announced that his parents were “reunited” after his mother’s funeral as he revealed he scattered her ashes at a familiar spot.

The former This Morning presenter, 62, announced last month that his mother Patricia Schofield had passed away at the age of 88. The dad-of-two, 62, paid tribute at the time in a post on social media and he expressed gratitude to those who had been involved in her care prior to her death.

Taking to Instagram this Monday, November 11, 2024, mere days after Patricia’s funeral, Phillip Schofield announced he had found the perfect spot to scatter his mother’s ashes with a stunning snap of a sunset in Cornwall, where he had been staying since leaving the ITV daytime show.

“When Newquay puts on a show stopping sunset on the day I sprinkle the combined and reunited ashes of mum & dad”, the TV star wrote in his caption. But only one of his 2.6m followers, Emma Forbes, was able to respond in the comment section as she penned: “Sending much love what a fitting sunset.”

This comes after a funeral was held for Patricia in Cornwall, which is where she had lived, on Friday, November 8. The service at St. Michaels Church in Newquay was attended by family and friends, including Phillip. He was joined by his wife Stephanie, 60, as well as their daughters Molly Schofield, 31, and Ruby Schofield, 28.

Phillip was among the four pallbearers, with him seen carrying the casket out of the church alongside three other guests. Other photos showed him interacting with fellow attendees at his mother’s funeral.

The former Dancing On Ice host shared the news of his mother’s death in October, 2024, telling his followers that Patricia had “decided it was time” to reunite with his late father Brian Schofield, who passed away back in 2008. In an emotional statement, he then revealed: “After a heartbreaking weekend, my magnificent mum decided it was time to go to her beloved Brian.”

“Over three days, we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said. She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified. I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum.” Patricia Schofield passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Monday, October 14. She was originally from Oldham.

Patricia remained a consistent source of support for her famous son, allowing him to retreat to her home in Cornwall in 2023 and escape the spotlight for several months before his return to Channel 5. Cornwall was a special place for the TV star and his mother, as it was the place where Phillip first told Patricia about his sexuality in 2020, prior to his public announcement. Phillip also delighted his fans frequently with glimpses into his relationship with Patricia, sharing their hilarious moments on social media.
