PSG are pushing hard to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but the Georgian attacker could now become a player of real interest to Premier League clubs as it appears he could now be available this month

Paris Saint-Germain believe they are in pole position to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – despite interest from the Premier League.

The Georgian attacking sensation has opened the door to a surprise exit this month as talks over a new contract with the Italian giants have so far failed to reach a positive conclusion.

Sources close to the player are indicating that PSG have made notable progress on an agreement on personal terms over a long-term contract.

The sticking point is the negotiation with Napoli is expected to prove complex and the Serie A leaders are likely to relish the prospect of an auction given a number of English clubs are also watching developments attentively.

The 23-year-old forward is no longer considered untouchable in Naples despite firing the club to the Scuddetto in 2023.

Napoli are expected to command a fee upwards of £70million though so far, PSG are yet to come close to that figure and have instead tried to offer players in part-exchange for Kvaratskhelia.

Centre-back Milan Skriniar is said to have been floated towards Napoli while striker Randal Kolo Muani, who is of interest to Manchester United, Tottenham and Juventus, is free to leave PSG this month and could be used as potential makeweight in negotiations.

Speaking last June, Kvaratskhelia agent Mamuka Jugeli made it clear his client was open to a summer transfer but a move did not materialise.

He told Georgian outlet Imedi: “I don’t want people to think that Kvara wants to stay at Napoli. We want to leave, but we are waiting for the end of the Euros so as not to disturb Khvicha. The priority is to join a team that plays in the Champions League.”

Kvaratskhelia is understood to be open to a move to PSG but other big-name clubs from both England and Europe could now enter the running for a player that is evidently one of the best attractions available within the current market.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle are known to be admirers but whether they are willing to table the funds to sign the player this month is another question altogether. Newcastle cannot spend freely due to their ongoing battle against Profit and Sustainability rules.

Kvaratskhelia’s current contract with Napoli runs until the summer of 2027. Manchester United have been linked but would struggle to finance a deal unless it involved a high-value asset such as Marcus Rashford. At this stage, Napoli have not shown an interest in Rashford despite his availability.
