Reddit has gone down for the second time in the space of one month – and thousands of users worldwide are unable to access its content or upload new material tonight

Users of the social media Reddit are battling a “server error” with the platform tonight.

The worldwide issue has sent Reddit crashing, with internet users struggling to access or upload any material. It is the second time the site has gone down in the space of one month following difficulties it faced on August 28.

Tonight, 6,000 users reported experiencing problems at the height of the malfunction at around 8pm UK time. The website Downdetector, which monitors outages in real time, shows Reddit first started issues at around 7.30pm across the world, although the majority of which have been recorded in the UK.

Social media users have, instead, turned to Twitter/X tonight. Seeing the comedic site, one user posted on Twitter/X: “I was 61 comments deep into a 9-year-old thread about existentialism.” And another joked: “Coming to Twitter to check if Reddit is Down and seeing how addicted me and everyone else is.”

The Mirror has contacted Reddit for comment. When it crashed in August, it told us it “encountered an error” but a fix was swiftly implemented, reports the Daily Star.

Reddit is a social news website and forum where content is socially curated and promoted by site members through voting. The site name is a play on the words “I read it.” It was founded in June 2005 and, in October last year, became the 18th most-visited website in the world.
